Clip: President Deflects Iraq Queries

President Bush today brushed aside questions about the accuracy of his claim in his State of the Union address that Iraq had tried to buy nuclear materials in Africa, declaring that there was "no doubt" his decision to go to war to remove Saddam Hussein from power was correct.
The president avoided answering questions directly about whether he regretted including the claim and whether he still believed the charge -- that Iraq had sought a form of uranium from Niger -- to be true despite White House aides' acknowledgments this week that the allegation was baseless and should not have been in the speech.
Bush dismissed the matter as "attempts to rewrite history."

Sounds like someone who refuses to accept responsibility. Very admirable trait for a leader.

Q: Mr. President, do you now believe your claims that Iraq was trying to obtain uranium from an African country to be false?

A: Did you know yesterday my ass was so swollen, I couldn't even sit down?

Q: Sir, but what about the uranium?

A: Did you know that this chair has four legs? My rocking chair at home doesn't have any, why is that?

Q: Sir?

A: Anyone have some pretzels? Sure could use a nice hot pretzel.

The statement has already been made by the Admin that it shouldn't have been in the speech. The responsibility lies with those who didn't do thier job to filter the intelligence correctly.

Yup - the liberal dart missed the board again.

This is very simply put what everyone opposed to the war was referring to as "the rush to war in Iraq."

Bush and his entire administration, along with our "coalition partner" Tony Blair, were in such a rush to invade Iraq they used any information they could find, true or untrue, to support their position. Ignoring reports to the contrary.

Now that the truth is coming to light they're backpedalling, tossing out ridiculous statements about "rewriting history" when it was they who rewrote history with their false and misleading statements in their rush to war. Running off to Africa, spending a few hours here and there, decrying slavery a few centuries after the fact, making a token gesture 20 years too late in the fight against AIDS - all because it's better to have Bush out of the country while the heat is on about Iraq.

You can come back now, George. The questions on Iraq aren't going away. Your daddy can't get you out of this one. Come on home and face the music. I'm sure you can think up a few more lies to prolong this mess you started into the 2004 election. 😀

It is not a matter of being liberal, conservative, black, or white....
Right now, it is a matter of COMMON Sence....
I, as a conservative should support a conservative politician no matter what, just because he is conservative..
Just you your brain, knowledge and instincts, instead of branding people.....
Also, many people on this board will hold you accountable for your statements....
Do not forget about it....

Umm, so why hasent there been drastic changes in the way they handle intelligence? And why should the President avoid responsibility when members of his cabinet and people UNDER him provided faulty intelligence (assuming the President didnt already know the intelligence was flawed- quite brave assumption)?

Buahahaha - "rush to war" is now taking this shape? Looks like someone is grasping at straws again.

adlep - There is a group of people who are throwing darts hoping they stick - those people are liberals and Democrats. They are the ones trying to find an issue to destroy Bush with since they can't beat him with the real issues.

lozina- maybe there have been changes, do you work for the CIA, DOD, or Whitehouse? And if so please tell Asscroft to piss off for me if you see him.

? :Q
This is NOT correct. I am not liberal or democrat, in fact I voted 😱 for Bush in 2000....
But I will never repeat this same mistake again.
And again, the fact that the main premise of war in Iraq is turning out to be bogus IS THE REAL ISSUE.
And you as an American patriot should have a big problem with having no real proof of Saddam being a credible danger to the US.
And why the keck we are spending so much money in Iraq now?
Its better to give all these money spent on Iraq to Poland...
He and his advisers have totally f*cked the US foreign policy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Bobdn, I don't know why I found that so funny but I do. Can I use that in my sig?

I have to admit as a military member and as someone who voted Bush in 2000, that my patience and my trust is waning with his decision making prowess, and fast. I still do feel that the world is a better place without Saddam running a nation than it was before hand, but the methods by which the war was justified have fallen far short of promises made.

Don't worry - a judgement on the use of logic coming from you holds little weight. 🙂

Exactly what I mean. Nothing about you can hold any weight much less measure what it is. About the best you can do is exgas.

I'm starting to feel badly for you CAD... in fact, you may notice I don't post too much bush bash on your posts...That said..! Ya gotta admit CAD, that Bush or some other shrub in the garden has become infested by white flies... If this keeps up... the whole garden, including Bush, will be overwhelmed with this.. and no one likes the sight of that...
Not even a die hard Cubby Fan observes the error committed by the short stop on the very first batter of the game as "setting up the double play" ... Admit or don't admit... it's OK... Facts is Facts... 😉 But, If ya get to feeling like you're backing a failing cause... be the first on your block to yell and shout... that you were let down and made a fool of by the backing of the liar ...and bug infested Bush..😀

So you want me to blindly jump on the Bash Bush wagon because you say so? Once you can prove your claims difinitively, I will admit that I was wrong but the fact is- that proof you people hope for doesn't exist. I hope that you would also be man enough to do the same when weapons programs and/or actual weapons are proven to exist(and no I can't prove it yet either). So we are going to be stuck until one side provides conclusive proof

CAD,
I don't think I've said what you've ascribed to me... I've not a clue where they are... I assume they were somewhere or whatever... I ain't a clue... what SH did with em.. I just don't want to see some of them over here... I'd rather they send 10 divisions to find em... then 1500 people..

So since you think that going after Clinton, in the way the Republicans did, was wrong(as do I) you still use it as an excuse to do the same? I thought Democrats were above these "games"
