Clip: President Deflects Iraq Queries

President Bush today brushed aside questions about the accuracy of his claim in his State of the Union address that Iraq had tried to buy nuclear materials in Africa, declaring that there was "no doubt" his decision to go to war to remove Saddam Hussein from power was correct.
The president avoided answering questions directly about whether he regretted including the claim and whether he still believed the charge -- that Iraq had sought a form of uranium from Niger -- to be true despite White House aides' acknowledgments this week that the allegation was baseless and should not have been in the speech.
Bush dismissed the matter as "attempts to rewrite history."

Or, how stupid are you people? That is, you who supported this war in face of all the evidence that was available before the invasion. Now, you're going to buy the next pack of lies because that's obviously all you're programmed to do by your masters.

The most serious issue is that, for the first time in its history, the U.S. has adopted pre-emptive war as national policy. This may yet prove to be the worst political turn of the century. The entire premise for the war was imminent danger from Iraq. Not only has this now been proved false, the idea that such a radical action was predicated on falsehoods, exaggerated threats, and lies of omission increases the folly by an order of magnitude. If I killed my neighbor and claimed self-defense; used a Bush-type defense in court; I would expect to be found guilty of murder.

Have some conviction, stand up for what you believe is right, and quit playing the victim.

This is very simply put what everyone opposed to the war was referring to as "the rush to war in Iraq."

Bush and his entire administration, along with our "coalition partner" Tony Blair, were in such a rush to invade Iraq they used any information they could find, true or untrue, to support their position. Ignoring reports to the contrary.

Now that the truth is coming to light they're backpedalling, tossing out ridiculous statements about "rewriting history" when it was they who rewrote history with their false and misleading statements in their rush to war. Running off to Africa, spending a few hours here and there, decrying slavery a few centuries after the fact, making a token gesture 20 years too late in the fight against AIDS - all because it's better to have Bush out of the country while the heat is on about Iraq.

You can come back now, George. The questions on Iraq aren't going away. Your daddy can't get you out of this one. Come on home and face the music. I'm sure you can think up a few more lies to prolong this mess you started into the 2004 election. :D

Buahahaha - "rush to war" is now taking this shape? Looks like someone is grasping at straws again.

adlep - There is a group of people who are throwing darts hoping they stick - those people are liberals and Democrats. They are the ones trying to find an issue to destroy Bush with since they can't beat him with the real issues.

lozina- maybe there have been changes, do you work for the CIA, DOD, or Whitehouse? And if so please tell Asscroft to piss off for me if you see him.

Whatever credibility you had is now gone completely.

The only explanation for your blind allegiance to Bush is...............you are George Bush.

Hehehe - your depth of logic astounds me.

CkG

Hehehe - your lack of depth confirms my opinion.

Cousin T... has advised the depth of this debate has not attracted the attention of nary a school.. we are left with the mammalian opine of the photon.... as part of that dynamic duo I must conclude the ruling is stellar in deed... an act of incomprehensible clarity.. from so deep a constellation of observations with fact the fuel the fool forgoes...
