May be good for archiving movies for playback on your PC only, as a majority of the set-top box dvd players out there play dvd-r's and not dvd+r's.

u've been mis-informed. actually the amount of dvd players that support dvd+r and the amount of dvd players that support dvd-r is about the same.

DVD+R's are more compatible if you use bitsetting. DVD+R is a superior format.

I hate to say it...but to be Burning in Hell Hot it would have to be so hot that my monitor bursts into flames when I read the post...😉

Once Amazon ships an order of DVDs, how long will it take to arrive using "Super Saver" shipping?
Amazon says these DVDs will ship between Feb. 14 and Feb. 28.
The rebate has to be postmarked by Feb. 28, so I need to know how long I can wait until I have to cancel my order.

I've had orders from Amazon shipped "Super Saver" that took over two months to ship.

yep. i have set-top dvdr and it couldn't read the dvd+r i burned with my stock nec 3520. upgraded the firmware to enable bitsetting (labels dvd+r as dvd-rom), reburned the dvd+r and now it plays fine. (tdk ricohjpn)

That'd be perfect if it was a deal for a new monitor 🙂

Of course you would only have a moment to read the deal before you had to duck away from your exploding monitor.

These aren't yudens. Aren't the best. Middle ground stuff.

Go get the stuff from Best Buy this sunday. Yuden if made in Japan, Ricoh if made in taiwan. Both good stuff.

they are not the best, but they are definately better than ritek and prodisc. To me they are just a bit below of anything that is made in Japan, but they are the best of anything that is made in Taiwan.

guess i'll have to go to best buy...

what about the stuff they use to make retail discs? what makes those so good? are they the same quality as ty? better i am guessing, but how come no one sells any? or do they?

thanks.
