Actually, it has a component video in too.

Component video better than S-video, S-video in better than composite video.

So, if your DVD player has component video out, plug it in, it is better than S-video. BTW, today received my AMEX $235 check. Nice. :)

Thanks all for the fabulous deal! I bought two of these TV's from Circuit City in Sacramento for $449.98 each (had to do some pricematching with another member's receipt) and then submitted a BVG claim the next day. About 7 days later(today), I received two checks for $210.48 each, so I paid a total of about $275 for each TV. I was hoping I wouldn't have to lug back the TV's in case my BVG claim wasn't approved. Thanks to all!!

SeiyaMan,

I went to buy the Panasonic, and when they didn't have any, I walked out with an open-box Sony Wega.

In any case, my TV seems to do the same thing that you have mentioned. I'm still not sure if I believe this answer or not, but what I have been told, by two people now, is that it is NOT the tv. Rather, it is either the cable that I'm using to connect the TV or the cable company itself.

I have Basic Cable (not Digital) from TimeWarner, if that helps.

hmm, i got regular Timewarner cable too and also normal cables, not the fancy Monster Cable(a waste of $$ actually). I was watching dvd when i noticed this problem, which completely surprised me. I'll do more testing once i get home tonight. Thanks for the input, more comments are welcomed.

horizonatal lines? vertical lines? or diagonal lines?

I get diagonal line interference on my Sony 35" when using a coaxial cable (for cable tv). The interference is only there when I switch to video signal. It's not very apparent watching VHS. It gets more apparent watching dvds. It gets real god forsaking bad when using the laserdisc player. When watching cable tv, it's fine. Everything becomes fine when I unplug the coaxial cable and rely on composite RCA connections but this means I can't get cable.

Also, when I plug in a short coaxial cable to the tv with the other end unconnected, I notice the same interference.

I was told that I have a source leaking rf signals. The coaxial cable is sensitive to the leaking rf signal. As such, I have to somehow locate that leaking wire(s) or move that undershielded speaker and replace it or shield it somehow. Also, I was told filters (hi pass and multi band filters) won't help in this case. Gotta find that damn rf source.

Well, AMEX has approved my PM. I got it for $484.99 PMed to $239.50. That comes to $244.50, now, my question: will they give me $244.50 PLUS tax, or $250 flat?

Disconnect the coaxial cable and use the composite RCA, S-Video, or Component connections. If the lines disappear, then it's not your TV's problem ... it would be the coaxial connection.

When I called Amex to PM, the guy asked about Circuit City's price match. I didn't really know what to say, and the guy at AMEX said he wasn't sure it would go thru. Any advise what to say if they don't honor the price match? Any assistance is greatly appreciated since this is only the second time I've used this feature with AMEX. Can anyone give me some guidance in this matter? Thanks in advance.

You should read through the entire thread as every question about the price match has been answered numerous times by numerous people. But I will respond again......

1) I requested my Amex price match by faxing in the print out of the BestBuy.com page exactly as it appears. Amex does not care if they are in stock or not. Further, you can claim that they occasionally do come in stock and you have not been lucky enough to get one. Make sure the print out of the Best Buy web page clearly has a date on it (mine was on the footer, from my printer). I faxed my info. and received my check within 8 days.

2) If questioned about Circuit City price match policy, simply respond "Circuit City does not price match web pages or internet companies.......BestBuy.com is offering this deal, not your local Best Buy store. Further, Circuit City will not match a Best Buy that is not in the same market (We have several Best Buys and Circuit Citys where I live and they will only price match the stores nearest them.)

3) you cannot use Amex pm on open box or floor models!!!

4) Since Amex is very fast on approving and sending your check, leave the Television in the box until you call (around 3 days after faxing claim) and verify approval on your claim. Circuit City return policy is 30 days on this TV with no restocking fee, be patient (it is worth it!!! :)).

5) If your claim is denied, post on this thread telling us why........if nothing else, maybe one of these really cool folks who have been posting here will give you their Amex claim number. Then you can call Amex and ask "my friend got the BVG, his claim number is XXXXXXX, why was mine denied, not his?" If that does not work, fax Amex a letter and hope they respond quickly. Return the TV if all else fails. No harm, no foul.

6) Let Janeson know how wicked cool he is for posting this deal to begin with!!!!!!!!!

Now I have a question....

After I discovered that Amex Blue would no longer continue the BVG after April, I called Amex and applied for an Optima Platinum. The Optima Platinum does continue the BVG after April. I was approved and I received my card yesterday................If I were to purchase another of these televisions on my new card do you think it would be approved or denied? Can you do a second PM after already receiving a claim? Would it be considered different since it would be connected to a different card/account number? Any thoughts? I really want another of these at this price!!!!

BVG ends for Amex Blue in April, and I believe the rep said in June (?) for the Optima. That means you cannot PM purchases after the ending date. You can, however, call up BVG in May for an item bought on your Blue card before April 30th.

Hey everyone, I just checked and Costco has these TV's. They have the 27" model with PIP. Will Amex be able to PM this?

I'm gonna try and PM w/ the Sears receipt and then do the AMEX PM after. Costco has the best return policy possible!

I hope it works, any suggestions or tips? Thanks.... John

Did anyone have an idea of the service mode of this TV? I heard from some web site that says the TV have a service mode in which you could adjust more than the standard menu. I want to adjust the screen size of the TV , the screen is a little smaller than its full screen when using composite input from my computer.

just wanted to mention i got the tv at sears, no hassles w/ getting a check back from amex blue. i don't have an income, so i just went in w/ a printout of the website, pricematched it, and bought it no questions asked. the box wouldn't fit in my car though. evidently i can return the tv sans box though, so its ok.

Does it matter what model number it is? From that receipt that's posted, all the model says is: CT-27SX ? Will this matter when I try to PM with AMEX? Please let me know.

THanks
