exercise for how long, 2x a day, etc.

Once 4-5 days a week, at least 30 minutes a session, high intensity. Build up a good sweat.

A little OT, I have extremely crappy metabolism. Excercise just doesn't do it. How safe is ephedrine or xenedrine or whatever that stuff is? I've known people who've used it with success but I'm always wary of that stuff.

If you have "extremely crappy metabolism", it means you'll have to work harder, but you don't need supplements to be successful. Sometimes they'll hurt rather than help.

Oh, and never take Ephedrine. People have died from it.

Get dance dance revolution. Play the hell out of it. Lose weight. Not only will you have fun, you will be able to show off and get chicks at the arcades and lose weight at the same time! oh, and you have to eat somewhat healthy.

i lost 15 pounds in a couple months after playing it.

I do not intend to add a regime of lifting weights, at this time.

measure your heart rate. hit your target heart rate and keep it up for 30-45 min. don't overwork, because you'll burn out quickly and get discouraged. look up target heart rates based on age online. i'd focus more on maintain a reasonable pace for 30-45 min, rather than overworking and quitting.

personally, i can jog and pretty slow speed and my heart is at my target heart rate. although i usually try to maintain about 80%.

Exercise does do it, you just have to do more of it. It takes longer than a couple of weeks to alter your metabolism. If you're in bad shape to begin with, it'll take even longer. Think months.

Unless you have glandular problems, which exceedingly few people do, crappy metabolism is due to inactivity and poor diet.

Metabolism is more genetics than anything.

If exercise is not enough (and you've maximized intensity), you need to work on your diet.

Simple eat less and exercise more.

It takes 3500 burned calories to lose one pound of weight.

Eat 2000 calories a day, and exercise 45 minutes a day 5 days a week, and you will lose ~2 pounds a week no matter what your metabolism is.

why not? just pick up a cheap pad and a used DDR game. Mod the pad (put wood under it, then hardwood floor covering over the pad and staple it...basically...)

you can get ddr for Ps1 and ps2.

its not that hard

i'd recommend it. sorry if its too gay or not cool for you. but thats what i used to think :)

What a pathetic cop out.

OP: cut those cheat days down to one/week, max.

I personally try to eat well, lots of veggies, lots of fruit (low carb based stuff), low-fat meat (very lean stuff), things like that. I eat a bowl of whole-grain cereal in the morning, have a good lunch, and a late but reasonable dinner. I drink at least 3L of water a day. Every night I do anywhere from 30-45 minutes of cardio, keeping my heartrate at my target as long as possible.
