I hate broccoli with a passion. It is my enemy and I will do anything to destroy it.

Would I go to jail if I went to protest in London for my hateful speech about broccolis and for inciting riots against the evil vegetable?

what the hell is a poppy?

Each year the nation expresses its unequivocal support for The Royal British Legion's charity work through the Poppy Appeal.

http://www.poppy.org.uk/

Because burning poppy's and chanting "Burn, burn, British soldiers, British soldiers, burn in hell." Is not a hate crime and only worthy of a £50 fine.

I love how fair and balanced justice can be...

This seems fair enough. By now it's obvious what kind of bs that kind of bs stirs up; it just can't be allowed to go unchecked. 70 days is long enough to be meaningful, but not so long as to be ridiculous.

That said, I will have to revise my opinion if the poppy burner isn't in the neighboring cell.

Unfortunately the wonderful British justice system requires you to change you opinion... failure to do so is a hate crime.

Just noticed at the end of the article the person burning poppies -

He said his wages were £480 a month, on top of which he receives a monthly £792 in benefits from the state.

That's messed up 🙁

P.S. On topic -- 70 days in jail? LOL!

Indeed you would get less time in the states for a DUI...

Shouldn't you be in bed? With the excitement of the upcoming royal wedding, I'm sure you need all the sleep you can get. I'd recommend cutting back on your posting to conserve energy.

PS Muslims Against Crusades are planning on holding a demonstration against the wedding... I have no idea why.

The pilgrims' ghosts are smirking at each other. "See! Almost 500 years and the bloody bastards still haven't learned."

So lets revisit my "Watermelon" group. My group, after gaining much momentum, suddenly declares that the word "Watermelon" cannot be spoken in public as it is a forbidden word in my religion. They further state that anyone that says "watermelon" in public is deliberately hateful towards my group as they knowingly offend and incite violence within my group, as they feel that it "degrades" them as a whole. Do you then agree that "watermelon" cannot be spoken in public because this group finds it degrading?

Well yes, obviously the same as the definition of the N word changed.

"there's a difference between saying something unpopular and saying the government is wrong. freedom of speech does not protect seditious speech".

yeah, i get what you're saying.

OK cool.

I think that you should have every right to protest in this manner.
Muslims seriously need to grow the fuck up and put up with the criticism that all of the other religions put up with.

Are all crimes coupled with hate of some sort?

"Hate Crime" laws are the most insidious laws ever invented.

Well yes, but few are "hate crimes" killing someone because you hate them, because they slept with your wife or something is not a hate crime.

Why? It's not a crime in America, it is a crime over here seems to make sense to me.

It makes sense that offending someone's religion is a criminal act? That makes no sense. Making it illegal to offend someone is nonsensical and therefore shouldn't be a law.

^^^^
begged the question i did

I see. but the statement I fixed does make perfect sense It is fact that it is a crime over here, whether you agree with the law or not.

this isn't a hate crime. It's not even a crime.
Technically I think you will find that it is theft and destruction of public property...

this isn't a hate crime. It's not even a crime in America.
Fixed

Everyone else I'll get back to you later, so many posts to reply to!
Totally not fixed...
Why? It's not a crime in America, it is a crime over here seems to make sense to me.

I should think it obvious...

Also burning a book is not a call to commit violent acts against a people... which means it isn't a hate crime.

Even if a court disagrees, though they may have more knowledge as to why it is a hate crime than us...

The statement was "It's not even a crime"

The facts are It's not a crime in america but is in the UK.

I changed the statement to "It's not even a crime in America"

Fixed.

So let me clarify - Theft and destruction of public property aren't crimes?

Stop being so dense.
