Dude, that sucks. Where do you live again? State, town, address...when did it happen, exactly? Are you gone at this time EVERY day? Your dog is usually locked up when you leave, right?

Excellent....

;)

My 12-pound Pomeranian and I have been bulking up since the incident. He can take on a guinea pig now, I bet. Watch it.

Very sorry to hear about the break-in. Get an alarm system with 24/7 monitoring. Worth every penny. As said, they most probably will come back in a few months. From now on, take note of your surrounds when you leave for work.

IOW, make note of any cars that don't belong there, just sitting up the street from you with some dude just sitting in it. Write down plates. Make it obvious as to what you are doing. That is what I do in my sh!tty apartment complex that I can't afford to move out of. I will stand on my patio (I'm on the second floor) with my binoculars and get people's plates. They see me and more times than not, they speed the heck away. It works.

Good luck to you. Thank God your doggie is OK and nobody was home at the time. Probably punk kids. Check local pawn shops tomorrow!!!! Seriously. In "smash and grab" robberies like this, it's usually punk kids looking for drug money. If it was professional crooks, your entire house, including your dog would be gone.

Glad your dog is alright. Too bad it wasn't a big one so it could have whooped some ass.

My German Shepherd would have taken that crowbar from them, broke it over his knee, and shoved it up their a$$ while then proceeding to go for their throat.

He is a badass.:)

Personally when I get a house I'm installing an alarm right away regardless of where I live. I've simply heard of too many people being burgalized because they didn't have them or never used them and I don't want to have to have it happen to me before I get one installed.

Damn theives :|

trust me, an alarm won't do sh$t

a burglar can be in and out in 3 minutes

have a look here for some tips

Thanx guys. I think an alarm that's hooked into 24/7 monitoring will get thieves out quicker than if you don't have anything. The alarm is blaring inside the house and the cops will be there in 5 minutes or less. So basically, they won't be running off with a 30 inch-plus TV or anything of the sort. All the other smaller expensive stuff like older jewelry will be at the safe deposit box. Other things like an XBOX, etc... well insurance will have to cover things like that.

Speaking of which... NATIONWIDE INSURANCE is being a bitch. I need info about this from you guys... do they MAKE you supply ORIGINAL receipts for everything? For my uncle's brand new laptop they took, they need to see an ORIGINAL receipt showing ownership. And even then, she couldn't promise we'd be reimbursed the full price of the thing. He has the original receipt, but "given it to me as a gift", proof of ownership they want?! Give me a break. I just want to know how insurance companies are SUPPOSED to handle it. Computer coverage is $3000, and this laptop was only $1750... still, they're giving us s#it. If it were my insurance company and my house, I'm looking for a new one as soon as the policy expires. Your thoughts on this issue?

For those with big home-defense dogs, if he were a bigger dog, they might've even thought to whack him over the head with the crowbar.
They probably wouldn't have tried to break into your place.

That's true... probably not... but calmer/smaller dogs are more fun, especially for a "safe" neighborhood like this one. :|

So anyone know about my insurance/receipts question?
