Bulb on DLP...we need to replace them?

Some bulb( technology) got "half-life" , exemple plasma.Which mean when they are over, they are at half life.Television will still work,but the brightness level will be low.

DLP television are supposed to have 50k hours bulb life, but THIS model got 8k...

I got screwd totally, but i can get a refund.Thank god.

And YEAH i do enjoy LOTS of television.Whats wrong with that?

you shuolda considered this before you bought it. Its called making an informed purchase. That's why many states don't have a "cooling off" period for cars. I think it was your own negligence(sp) for not being an informed consumer. Thats ignorance.

Why don't ya just spare yourself on this board and keep the friggin TV, and be nice to her. Yenno that she gets lonely when you leave her on and noone is watchin.

I think you have buyer's remorse, and just want to get rid of the TV. Spending 1/7th of your yearly income on the TV seems fun, but sure sucks once you get the credit card bill or look @ your bank account.

If you LOVE TV like you say, and got such a GREAT deal on it, why don't you keep it, turn it OFF when you leave the room, and buy a new bulb a few YEARS down the road. Or, just take it back, but have fun explaining your reasoning to the CSR or manager of wherever you bought it why they should take it back...

:confused: So you didn't get warranty? It was really simple to switch out the bulb. But if you are having buyer's remorse just return it.

2 grand on a tv: retarded when you make 14 grand a year, thats paying 3 months pay on a tv... shit!

where did you buy it from?

as mentioned once before, 8K hours is with the bulb at 50%. expect you not to use 50% turn down the dimmer. so it lasts much longer

im pretty sure its not the tv but the music/sound you enjoy, so get some sort of tuner that accepts coax, and plug it in so you still have the sound.

ever think that a TV like that will use up enough energy? not only can you turn it off and save the bulb, you can turn it off and save money on electricity!!!

Na not a buyer remorse.I was soo happy to have it.When i saw it at the store etc.I was drooling on the floor.But when i came home and, just for fum, i decide to read a bit on it at avsforum.com and on samsung site, i realise the life of the light bulb totally suck!

20k hour bulb i would have keep it...not 8( hey its even 5... )

Yes you do... I had my DLP for almost two years now and I have noticed that the screen is darker than when I first bought it.

Research next time buddy, NO DLP/LCD Projection have 50k Life bulbs, they average 6-8k. You didn't get screwed, you didn't RESEARCH. Don't blame them blame yourself. BTW Some bulb like plasma... mmm plasma don't have bulbs buddy. Once they lose their brightness thats IT, put a garbage sticker on it, atleast with a DLP/LCD Projection you replace the lamp and it's like you just bought it, full brightness again.

This is off topic, but it's my understanding that a person has 24 hours from the time of purchase to return an item, regardless of what the return policy says. (Something along the lines that the person has 24 hours to read the fine print)

(Here in Canada) a friend of mine was told this by a lawyer when he had a problem returning something. The employee promised him what he wanted would work and said he could return it if it didn't work. It didn't work and they wouldn't refund his money (I don't know the specifics of the story though).

They must be talking about the light engine not the lamp, because 8000 is about the top rating for the lamps.

I DID do my research before making a purchase.I tough and knew that DLP will last 50k hours easy....

I guess the model i bought decide to slap me in the face...

I know exactly what you mean man. I bought this car from the dealership and a couple days later the damn thing needed more gas. What kind of scam job are they running, I just paid all that money for the car.

So you guys are telling me that the television ITSELF will last 60k hours...but the light bulb will last like 8k hours, on ALL LCD'S and DLP on the market???

The funny thing is, if you bought it from any major electronics store, you won't be able to return it after the super bowl. They have specific rules against that.
