You can bump down to a S12-500. Also get the XP-120 is you don't mind it bigging so big. With a larger 120mm fan it will be quieter. Also check for the best prices. Newegg is a great vendor, but may charge a lot for a particular prduct. The Saasonic PSU, Antec P180 and XP-90 are good examples. They can be found much cheaper other places.

P-D = Coffee heater. The AMD 64 X2 is a much better choice.
I would get my memory from OCZ..
A 512MB video card is relatively useless as a 256MB 7800GTX > Any 512MB card.

Reading the opening post I would say that you shouldn't try building your own system as it seems that you really don't know what you're doing by the "requirements" of your system.

Just because they use the same chips does not mean they perform the same or overclock the same.

Arye, before you buy all parts you need for good gaming pc so you might need this video for better gaming Click Here. You might need more than 120gb so I think you should get 160gb hd if you play a lots games Click Here and I think 500-550 watts power supply should be enough

PRICES INCLUDE SHIPPING

Case - Cooler Master Praetorian $124.50

DVD-RW NEC $45

CPU - Athlon 64 3800 X2 $399

Hard Drive - WD 320Gb $125 AR

RAM - 2 gigs of OCZ Value RAM $206

Motherboard - Asus A8N-E Nforce4 Ultra $125 (some may argue for the DFI board, both are good though)

PSU - 430watt Seasonic $106

Video Card - Leadtek 7800GTX $504

Grand Total: $1634.50

That fits your budget, and will smash the rig you proposed.

:)

I'd get a seagate with NCQ over WD

Thanks everyone and the two people who are just being negative please don't post if your not going to help. I am having a friend put it together he has put them together before. I am here just to get the best parts.

I am not going ot do major gaming as in 100 diff games on my HD. That would be pointless.

Here is my list with prices. (No Tax or Shipping included)

Case - Antec P180 $150

Mobo - Expox NF4 Ultra $107

DVD Drive - NEC Black IDE DVD Burner $41 (Sale)

RAM - Patriot 2GB PC3200 $200

GPU w/ BF2 - eVGA 7800GT $410

PSU - Seasonic S12-500 $130

CPU - AMD 64 X2 4400+ Toledo $554

Heatsink and Fan - Thermalright XP-90 $43 and
Panaflo 92mm $15

HD - HITACHI Deskstar 160GB $83

Audio - The X-Fi that is coming out soon

Yeah this is my stuff. I don't need to go overboard on HD space. Although I was wonering if the HD would be quiet enough?

Do you plan on buying everything at newegg? I suggest shopping around at other vendors to find the best prices. I would also check out silentpcreview like I said before since you said you wanted a quiet PC.

the reviews are saying its really good, but its over a $100 more and I dont think I want to spend that much on it, especially if im not going to need that much power.....

and i am gettin a 160gb HD since its only like $10 more then the 120GB i was first going to get.

and yeah im going to go 500w for PSU

Thanks for your post! The more people agreeing one one item the quicker I choose items and get what I should

The parts look great. I don't know anything about those particular Patriot sticks, but for the price they seem like they would be great. You could also get a quieter fan for the heatsink, but the fan choice is not bad at all. I don't know about the X-Fi though. Unless you have a really good speaker system you would probably be fine with a cheaper sound card. There was a sale where you could get the Audigy 2 ZS for really cheap. That is a great gamers sound card.

To check for best prices there are many sites available on the net to do price comparisions. Here are some.
http://www.pricegrabber.com/
http://froogle.google.com/
http://www.pricewatch.com/

There are many others available though. Also if you run into a vendor that you have never heard of check out Reseller Ratings. You can search for the vendor at that site and see other users experiences with them. That should help in your decision whether or not you should buy from them.
