Hey all,
For my work, I run some windows 98 software that for various reasons, will only run in win98. I'm tired of keeping around a bunch of old towers, so I'd like to convert all of those machines into virtual ones. I transferred them all successfully, but vmware runs like a dog on my old P4 machine, so it's time to upgrade, I think.
I also thought it'd be a fun project to build this computer.
So, following the guidelines for advice-asking:
1. I'd like to run Vmware as fast as possible, in addition to doing office-type tasks.
2. I can spend $2000 to $3000 on this PC.
3. I will be buying parts in the US.
4. No brand preferences.
5. I'm bringing a monitor and kb/m, but nothing else.
6. I've not seen any threads regarding this particular issue.
7. I want to try overclocking, but it is not a must.
Thanks a lot
Ben
