heard some people say AMD drivers and support suck and to NOT get the 6950 for that reason, and instead get the 560 Ti. Thoughts?

Well, Skyrim and CF dont play well together supposedly but SLI works fine. But from what I hear thats just CF and not everyone has the problem. AMD is suppose to be working on a fix for that particular CF problem. I guess if you want the most guarantee of compatibility (if such exists) then I'd say nVidia. One thing I have noticed about people and GPUs. Those who update their GPU drivers all the time seem to have the most problems. I buy a GPU, install it, and then that is it. Never have had a problem with games but i don't go and update drivers when they come out. If it isn't broke don't fix it I say. But that's just me. Seems to work well.

I can handle that! I'd be happy to stick with one card so im fine with that. I'm not even sure that the ASrock board im gonna buy supports SLI...and i certainly dont need the extra fan noise and ill never play higher than 1920x1080.

I'm hearing about a similarly priced card thats being released on the 29th called the GTX560 w/ 448 cores. Any thoughts on that?

The standard 560 Ti has 384 cores, so the 560 Ti 448 should perform quite a bit better, but I don't know what default clock speed it will have. I'm going to assume it still has just 1GB VRAM though. 6950 2GB is still your best bet, I'd say.

Do any of you see a difference between this and this? It doesnt look like it and I'd like to buy the one without Dirt 3 since its a bit cheaper, but you never know with these things (and the Dirt 3 ones has a shload more reviews).

^One ends in 3SR and the other 3L. Looking at the tech data provided by Amazon real quick they are same exact model. To be honest not much tech data given by Amazon. I'd have to look it up on the Net which I'm not going to do. I don't have the time. I'm guessing one has a game other does not and that is the difference.

damnit, everywhere now has the i5-2500k for like $230+. Shouldve bought it when it was $199. Black friday had shitty deals and i feel like cyber monday will too. Guess ive just gotta wait.

One comes with Dirt 3 and the other doesn't.

I know, but it's worth looking into to see if ncix will pricematch that price. I had heard that they were pricematching MC's in-store price.

Yeah, it depends on how attentive the person processing the pricematch is. Usually they just look at the price and approve it, but some are more thorough.

Some people are also idiots and/or haven't left their basement since the year 2000. AMD has trouble with some games at launch, Nvidia has trouble with others. On average they are about the same.

Price not considered, Neo Eco 620W or XFX 650W?

The XFX easily. Usually the Neo Eco is $30 on sale and the XFX is $60, so at that point it is hard to go with the XFX.

Really hoping for some decent deals tomorrow but doubt i'll find any. Hopefully the XFX stays cheap and I can get the damn i5-2500k for $200 or less.

At $35 (what I missed) for the Neo Eco and $45 for the XFX what would you choose? 🙂

Man, seems like these new AMD cards are coming out in January and the new Intel chips are coming out in April. I wonder how much better they'll be (or how much more expensive). Also thanks for answering my question...i'll go with the XFX then.

So since amazon sucks and doesnt have the mobo you guys recommended, and newegg charges like $8 shipping for it...would you say i just get it from newegg or order one of these two slightly more expensive boards? In other words, are these better boards than the Asrock?

GIGABYTE GA-Z68P-DS3

BIOSTAR TZ68A+

The biostar has free shipping so it works out to be about the same price as the ASrock and the Gigabyte has a rebate. Thanks!

Anyone?

Bought a Dell U2312HM 23" e-IPS monitor. Have gone grossly over budget lol. Should be good times though. Wish I couldve gotten the 24" one since it is 16:10 and not 16:9, but whatever..couldnt justify spending more (couldnt even justify what i spent! 😀).

The ASRock is superior to both of those boards, not taking cost into account. The Biostar costs $2 more after shipping and the Gigabyte only saves you $5 after shipping and rebate, so the ASRock is a no-brainer in terms of cost as well.

anyone wanna recommend a keyboard and mouse? would wireless be ok?

Logitech G400 and a normal Logitech keyboard.

Yes! Finally chose an item you guys like! 😀

I'll go with the ASRock then, just figured since those were a bit more expensive but the sameish price after shipping they might be better.

Youre not a fan of wireless mice/keyboards?

Not if you are going to use it at a desk. Wireless makes you deal with batteries for no benefit in such an environment.

What do you mean? 2600K is $95 more. All you get is hyperthreading which is not useful to you most of the time, see here (most of the differences you see here are down to the 100MHz stock clock difference).
