Buffalo Bills

Sorry, but I'm gonna disagree when it comes to the Bills. Everything they did in the off-season... no one working in a football organization can be that incompetent, can they? Horrible drafting, etc. I still think they're posturing themselves to make it easier to move to a larger city. Other than sentimental reasons, you'd have to be an idiot to stay in Buffalo when you can make a shitload more money in another city.

They have one of the cheapest seats in the NFL & a smaller stadium. Do the math: go to a larger market, sell 10,000 more ticket, and all of the tickets for $30 or more above the current price for a Bills ticket. You're talking about millions of dollars in additional income. As a business decision, staying in Buffalo is a bad one. When they were talking about moving the team before, to get them to stay, they had to sell all the box seats. They struggled to do even that. And, compared to the big city teams, those are quite cheap.

They won't move to Toronto. Hell, when they played the Dophins in Toronto, there were more Miami fans than Bills fans. Despite a few people in this thread posting that they're always a Bills fan, win or lose, they still struggled to fill the seats a relatively short drive across the Canadian border. Earlier, I was thinking Los Angeles Bills, but someone pointed out that LA said they won't fork over a penny for a new stadium. Someone will though... they'll figure out some way to convince the voters that spending public money on a new stadium will be good for their local economy.

Look at his stats. Fitzpatrick IS playing very well. For comparison's sake:
Ryan Fitzpatrick - 1200 passing yards, 159 rushing yards, 12 TD's, 5 INT's, 0 Fumbles
Tom Brady - 1602 passing yards, 11 rushing yards, 12 TD's, 4 INT's, 1 Fumbles
Matt Ryan - 1714 passing yards, 64 rushing yards, 12 TD's, 5 INT's, 0 Fumbles
Peyton Manning - 2184 passing yards, -6 rushing yards, 15 TD's, 2 INT's, 1 Fumble
Phillip Rivers - 2649 passing yards, 33 rushing yards, 15 TD's, 7 INT's, 3 Fumbles
Drew Brees - 2334 passing yards, -5 rushing yards, 16 TD's, 11 INT's, 1 Fumble

Keep in mind that Fitzpatrick did not play/start the first two games of the season. With the exception of Peyton Manning, he's putting up points and NOT throwing INT's. Yeah his yardage is a bit low, but you should easily be able to put another 500 yards if he were to start those two games in the season. Fitzpatrick simply is playing way better than expected, and he's playing pretty smart too. Typical Fitzpatrick would be throwing 1 INT for every TD he throws. Given the receivers he has, it's rather remarkable his stats are as good as they are.

The Edwards debacle, yeah... that's Gailey's fault, and he'll admit it. Edwards simply looked sharp in preseason, but once again that didn't translate on game day. Can't blame Gailey for going with what appeared to be the best choice.

As far as defense, George Edwards runs the defense in Buffalo. Yeah, the head coach has sway, but switching to 3-4 there was nothing to lose. At the very least it identified the weak links in the defense (the front seven) and gave them a target to draft/acquire for next year.

Simply put, Gailey came into this season knowing his team wasn't going to win it all. Nix acknowledge this early in the season as well. Buffalo started the season in a rebuilding year, and there was no argument otherwise. To be fair, look at the progress that HAS been made. An anemic offense is putting up points against top ranked defenses. They took Baltimore to overtime and a bad turnover ended the game. They took Kansas City to overtime despite having 240+ rushing yards posted against them, and SHOULD have won that one (but lost it on the leg of their kicker, who MADE the 53 yard kick as a timeout was called).

I personally think Gailey is doing a good job with what he has. I make no claim that Buffalo is a "good" team right now, but they definitely do seem to be heading in the right direction. A few good choices in players to shore up the defense, a little better offensive line play (particularly the tackles), and you have a game. Last piece of the puzzle is a franchise QB, and things take off from there.

Pizza, sorry, you're absolutely wrong. The Bills as they currently stand are a quite profitable business, generating the same amount of revenue in 2009 as the NY Giants, and ranking 12th out of ALL NFL teams for operating income in 2009.

The Bills won't be moving out of Buffalo, at least not in the next 20-30 years or so.

That being said, the bills looked good last week. There offense is clicking well, they need to get there defense working better, and they will win games. I like Chan Gailey, and he can run the offense, but get him some help on defense, or he won't last.

I think they will win against Da Bears.
 
One thing about Fitzpatrick's stats: when you're losing, you tend to throw more than run.

When you're passing more, you also tend to throw more picks. Fitzpatrick is having a career year, playing smart as well as taking his shots. Gailey is known for working with arguably sub-par quarterbacks and getting them to produce. Now if you think this season Gailey isn't doing that despite the sub-par offensive line, tough match ups, and horrible defensive front seven, then you aren't watching the same Buffalo Bills team the rest of us are.

By the way, from what I understand, the Bills-Bears game in Toronto is just about sold out.

i dont know. bills defense is atrocious. even jay cutler should rip them apart if he doesnt play with a frat boy mentality. this is almost a desperation game for the bears so i dont think they will take this game lightly.
 
Actually, I heard that Jerry Jones is paying them to continue losing, just so the Cowboys won't look so horrendous this year! 🙄
 
I have Jay Cutler and Matt Forte hoping they still beat the Bills. Jay really does have the talent, just his line collapses every single play.

I agree he has talent, but with no intelligence to go with it. You can't blame every decision he's made on the O-line even though they suck to high hell. He needs to make better decisions when getting rid of the ball instead of forcing it into areas he thinks are clear.

If the Bears had an offensive line, they would rip the Bills to pieces, but because of the fact that I could probably sack Cutler without much effort, this game should be close.

Through the first three games of the season, the Bears played above their true talent. They led the league in offensive passing categories and looked unstoppable, until the Giants realized that their O-line sucked. Since then, they've just been brutally exposed for what they are -- a team that focused on all the wrong things when it came to building an effective offense.

This season is going down the drain because they cannot block. If they cannot block, they can't throw. If they can't block, they can't run. To top it all off, they have a stubborn OC who has no idea how to make adjustments.

Bye bye Bears, it was fun while it lasted.

There are only four teams in the league that have fewer sacks than the Bills have. That said, Buffalo has allowed the 3rd fewest passing yards, but that's probably because teams know they can just run on Buffalo with little to no effort whatsoever.
