Your parts are $150. So we've blown the budget by $25.

Could step down to a GTS450, and look for a sale, and then drop down to the EA430 for another $5 savings. You need the EA500 for the GTX460 though, because that's the lowest EarthWatts PSU that has two power connectors. The GTS450 only requires one power connector.

I should also note that the Athlon II X4 chips are great for desktop multitasking, but they're not so hot for gaming, because of the lack of cache compared to their Phenom II brethren.

thanks for the super fast reply loved anandtech! few questions, why that motherboard? for a cleaner look i have seen people put matx boards in that case and looks great! what you think? i saw on the reviews for the case people had trouble with installing video cards with the way the psu mounts in the front of the case.. and also i would like to have a Modular psu. also is there a big differance in the 450 and 460 card? i really like the evga 450.

oops forgot to say i had windows 7 already..

that psu is only 5 bucks cheaper and you have to wait on a $15 mir

and the case is the same price..

are you looking at the same stuff?

Taking the rebates into account, you might as well get the better graphics card for a few bucks more.

Are you sure you want to pay about twice as much for a mobo? Just making sure you're getting what you want and not paying more than you need to.

not at ChiefValue, which is the first link i gave

the newegg link was just for your convenience to see the reviews

at ChiefValue it's $35, which is $15 cheaper than than the $40+$10shipping = $50 case you mentioned

so you could save $9+$15 = $24, which puts you just $1 over budget

504.92+18.42 is 523.24 hes right.. he totaled it with the mir already...

so if i go with a 450 then i can change the antec psu to a modular one?

Sorry, the numbers ended up kinda confusing. $505 is the subtotal before rebates. The price in front of each item had the rebate included.

And I'm still missing $6... no idea what happened there, but whatever, close enough now.

call me weird but i dont like the looks of the Galaxy card.. i prefer evga always had good experience with them.

There are some good suggestions posted here.

For the kind of use you're describing...and with the desired budget, anything Sandy Bridge will be too expensive...and overkill. (although IMO, it's worth the extra cost involved)

That's probably pretty good RAM. I've had great results with Mushkin over the years.

As for PSU choices, it's one of the most overlooked piece of hardware in the system...yet one of the most important. A crappy PSU can take out some or all of your components when it dies. NEVER cheap out on your power supply.

IMO, the brands to consider are (and in no particular order) Corsair, XFX, and SeaSonic...and some of the Antecs as well.
Yes, there are others that will suffice, but those are my personal preferences.
