i bet you $100 you could ask a random set of 100 people off the
street to tell you what the Secretary of the Interior's responsibilities
are, and you'd get 2 right answers... maybe.

...and that comment sounds totally set up for a sound bite.

any handler worth a crap would have told her she was meeting a
member of the President's Cabinet, and that she was not an
interior decorator...

concerned with such matters as national parks and natural resources. The Secretary is a member of the President's Cabinet.

You mean she doesn't keep all those "middle" states looking good?

The difference between Jessica Simpsons and many, many other people. Is that she opens her mouth and other people record it.

yeah exactly. everyone says stupid things, she is just a blonde and they want to portray her as a ditz, and they have done a good job. if you guys ever watch the show, you will see she isnt a moron, she just acts like it. i never said she isnt high maintenance, because she is, but that isnt the same. when she went home on the show to see her parents, she was a normal person. yes, she makes silly comments sometimes, but again, who doesnt? in the course of an entire day, they record her actions and pick out the things they think looks good on TV.

they are not going to record her normal, everyday conversations to sell a TV show. who would watch that? it has to be interesting or funny. she provides entertainment.

oh, and i am not about to make the arguement that wealth = intelligence because that is straight up wrong.

ok, so you have a good counter to my statement. but, if you were single, would you say the same thing? i think not. i never said she wasnt a spaz, but there is a difference between a spaz and a moron. she has energy, wtf is wrong with that? and you are correct NFS4 - money is definitely not everything, but people on this forum trash her so badly but she is 10000x more successful than they are. she can have whatever she wants because she has a talent and she excersized it properly. props to her.

You do realize you're revealing to ATOT that your skewed definition of success is showing how shallow and unintelligent you are, right? If you think success is one's ability to gain material items (wealth, cars, houses) then I hope you enjoy trying to make yourself happy for the rest of your life, because it will never happen.

no, i meant she is a success, i worded that incorrectly. i dont make a high salary but i am perfectly happy with my life. that just plain came out wrong, so dont call me shallow and unintelligent, ass.

edit: i fixed my initial post. sorry that i came off as being like that...really didnt mean to sound like an idiot.

=) Not trying to be an ass, I just try to help people realize they their goal in life shouldn't be material happiness or comfort because it's been proven that absolute billionaires are no more happy then the regular Joe. Matter of fact, the happiest people are those who have jobs with tangible results (teacher seeing children gain intelligence, construction workers seeing a completed home, etc.)

i completely agree. one thing i would like to do in my life is be a teacher. i think that would be one of the most rewarding professions anyone could do.

Not to be rude, but how could people not know what the secretary of the interior does? Is Government not required in High School?

Not that I'm aware of.I think civics class went the way of organized sports and art/music appreciation classes in most school districts.

I don't understand all the razzing of this young woman though, she's an entertainer, not a PH.D candidate. I thought the remark was funny, she entertained me,so imho she did her job well:)

I guess that is a bit sad. I don't have a problem with Jessica Simpson. She's an entertainer like you said. I wouldn't be surprised if her "blondness" was all part of her act.

government is required, but a lot of people could give a sh!t about our government. that doesnt make them stupid, they just dont care. i paid attention in government and i did pretty well in school, but ive never even heard of the secretary of the interior. who even cares what that person does? it doesnt matter to most people, so why would they bother with it? do you know about every type of job offered in every type of office? no, because you dont give a sh!t about most of it. how is that any different?

I didn't say anyone was stupid. I find it more SAD than stupid that people don't know about our government.

I spent the bulk of my working life in human services,I'm going to be "rewarded" by having to work till I'm 70 because the work is so poorly paid compared to for profit
industry.Helping people means hurting yourself and your loved ones fiscally in a very major way!
