Obviously you dont know nothing. Even though there is no sound in space they have to make it for tv or else it would jsut be silent and boring. But BSG doesn't do a lot of it. So, actually it's more realistic then peeps think.

yes, sound in space is kewl, its more dramatic. if u want to be realistic future weapons would be automated drones or such. no human body could take the forces that a machine could maneuvering. weapons would be too smart to have humans compete. would be silly. never mind the basic absurdity of flying around space fighting in the first place. i know firefly fans get all gooey about its supposed realism...but they ignore the stupidly unrealistic gunfights where the bad guys can't aim worth a damn and they have no tactics/ammo clip limits or whatever..:p let alone the hooker with a heart of gold or the self taught space ship engine expert:p its the only thing semi reaslitic in a world of absurdity:p u want to be that way...be consistent.

Pretty good although little things bother me, like why they cant have normal rectangular paper and the fact that they have an EXPO dry erase board in this universe. The word frack is pretty annoying as well

If you haven't noticed...BSG is not THAT technically more advanced than we are right now.

Save for the FTL drives, the technology level is not that advanced. They use nukes for ship-to-ship fighting and projectile weapons mainly. There's no real shields per se.

What I'm saying is that while they have developed a lot more space-faring technology - the rest has lagged.

Weapons have lagged behind.

Still using nukes.

Weapons on the Vipers are pretty much gattling guns.

yea well a chunk of foam can kill our spaceships.

I posted this in another thread so I'll just post it again, BSG=FTW!!!

I love all Sci-Fi. I have Seasons 1-7 of Stargate SG-1 on DvD, Firefly, aswell ST DS9, Battlestar Gallatica Season 1, and other series. I can't wait for friday to roll around every week because I am in love with Battlestar Gallatica and Tricia Helfer .

What I love most about that show is how the special effects never cease to amaze me. I think most of us that watch these types of shows have a mindset where we expect a certain level of CGI but beyond that not much else. Everything in BSG has a gritty feel to it IMO and I also think BSG even goes beyond CGI in most movies, honestly even Star Wars Episode 3. No one that saw last week's episode can deny that that CGI was simply amazing and the battle between the Battlestars and the Cylon BaseStars was just awesome, I love it.

Well put buddy. Live lone and prosper lol. So, what other forums have you posted about SCI-FI stuff? Man your more of a sci-fi than I am. It's too bad the Sci-fi network can't put better shows on like BSG. I mean come on, most of the show they make are crap. It's horrible. Like the cave about the giant killer beetle and stuff. There and were some other stuff I can't think of, but, it's like they just put anything on there sometimes. Only if SCI-FI network can put more better quality shows on like BSG.

About what Mo0o said about BSG is not technically more advance than we are. Well i'm going to have to kinda not agree with you on that. Yes they use bullets and what not, but like oroo oroo said a dam piece of FOAM destroyed our space craft. FOAM for god sakes and Mo0o said that were not that much technically advanced??? And plus the hyper jump??? Do we have something similear to that??? LOL. What world is Mo0o is living in lol.

Well, there's no reason why slugs flying at extremely high speeds can't do some damage, and nuclear weapons are definitely powerful ;)

BUT, I feel like everything in the series resembles our own civilization too much, like the technology, attire, behaviors etc. It just does not project the feeling of an alien and advanced space faring civilization. What it feels like is "us", with just enough technology and other differences thrown in to make the show work. Maybe the producers are doing this deliberately so people could identity with it more but it feels inconsistent to me. I think this is not true sci-fi, it's a drama with a sci-fi setting.

Well from what I read they wanted to make it realistic. And basically didn't want to over due it with the sci-fi stuff. Still a damn good show, and i'm glad they didnt over do it with sci-fi stuff. Let's be honest some sci-fi shows are too sci-fi ish and it looks too corny and too unrealistic.
