Pisiform being the bone that sticks out a bit if you look at the palm of your hand and follow the pinky down to the wrist.

For past few days I have pain there, it feels like the same kind of pain you'd have if you had a bruise. It also hurts if I force my hand to bend too much (like praying motion) or use my hand to lift myself up if I use the palm of my hand, but if I form a fist I'm ok. It also hurts if I push on it, especially the very "tip". Guess it's kind of hard to explain this over the internet..

Any doctors here by chance or someone that would know what this could be? My first thought and what seems to come up a lot online is carpal tunnel syndrome, but I don't know if it's really that as it's more of a bruise like pain, I think carpal would be more like a nerve type pain and numbness right?

Doctor offices are closed due to covid, but basically trying to determine if I should actually treat this like an emergency or not. It's been getting worse over past few days.

I've had similar pains in my hands many times. It would usually last 3-4 days, and I've always chalked it up to straining a muscle in my hand doing something. I also get the feeling in my thumb down into my hand a lot from where I tore a muscle playing baseball as a kid (arthritis). When I aggravate that area, it usually lingers around for a good week.

I don't think anything in your hand would be considered an emergency (unless you had serious cut or infection). Many doctors/health insurance groups have a non-emergency number where you can talk to a PRN to see if it's something you should seen immediately for.

That's kinda what I'm hoping maybe I did get trauma to it without realizing somehow. Just going to wait it out I guess. Even if it's something bad like arthritis not like they can do anything anyway.

If you did something serious enough to cause trauma to your hand, you would remember it. There was no doubt when I tore a muscle. ;)

About you can really do is put some ice on it for short periods, and take something like Aleve.

Yeah trying to recollect any time I may have hit it or something but I guess it would have to be recent. I do recall I fell down the stairs a while back but never thought much of it, it was just a stupid thing where I was walking and missed the step, but I did not really get hurt and moved on.

But wonder if maybe that's what it is, and the pain just got delayed somehow. Was using a drill the other day, but it was not exactly intensive work, a bit of weird angles but nothing that would cause impact.

Had an issue a year or so ago with a sore finger, lasted almost a whole year and went away, never figured out what it was. Guess I'm just getting old. :p Hopefully this does not last too long though.

All I can do is wait it out I guess. If by the time covid-19 stuff gets lifted I'll check with my doctor if it's still there.

Likely a strained muscle or tendon in the hand or wrist. Happens quite often. It may take weeks or longer to resolve but best thing you can do is just try to avoid a lot of extra movement with it.

I have gotten that every now and then. Usually hurt for a week and then disappeared.

I once had a cyst on a tendon of my thumb. It was in the palm part about a cm from where the thumb starts. It stuck out about 1/2 cm and could be seen easily. It hurt like the dickens. My doctor said he's never seen one there but, like most cysts, he said it will probably go away on its own. And it did after a month of annoying me.

Yeah so this seems to be getting better. Either that or the 2 Advils I took earlier decided to kick in hours later... how long do those normally take to kick in and how long do they last?

I also had a sore neck that started around the same time. I must have slept badly at some point or something. That is getting better too. Pain killers normally don't work that great on me so I'm hoping it's actually getting better and it's not just the Advils. :p

Basically been doing some stretches with it and stuff too, and same with the neck. I was also starting to feel depression for a few days I wonder if it's all related. Just so sick of winter and it's starting to affect me mentally and physically I think. It's been too cold to go out for walks or anything. It's a cold that goes right through you.

Getting out of the house for some fresh air and sunshine helps for sure.

I'm not sure what you're going to do besides move concerning the cold. That's Canada for you, eh? :p

Yeah I sometimes wish I had tons of cash and didn't need to work. I still like it here most of the time but I hate the stretch of April, March and May. The constant weather changing back and forth and the extreme cold gets old and there's no end in sight, it's just such a long winded period of gloom. If I could, I would get a vacation house in Cuba and go live there for those 3 months. :p

That's why I moved from the midwest down to NC.

I couldn't take the winters anymore (which pretty much started in mid-to-late October and lasted until April).

The snow, cold, and grey skies got really old after living in it for roughly 30 years. There was one stretch of winter back in 2010 I believe, where it was -40 zero with the wind chill, and after driving my car to work (which was a 30 minutes commute), the damn heat still wasn't blowing hot air. I couldn't get the chill out of my bones no matter what I did for the rest of the day, so I finally said "F this shit", and made a plan to get the hell out of there within 3 years.:p

So this pretty much went away, it's weird. I was even doing physical activity the other day using a chainsaw and I must have moved the same load of wood at least 5 times. I was worried it would make it worse but it's completely gone. I guess I'm just getting old and I will start getting more weird pains like this that mysteriously show up and go away. :p

We are also getting a break from winter, it's even hot enough to put shorts. Double digits. So maybe that somehow helped too.

Some things like bourbon get better with age. However, the body isn't one of them.

It seems like every week, a new part of my body hurts. ;)
