Bruce Lee vs Mike Tyson (prime): who would win?

I don't know. I have a hard time picking Bruce after seeing every traditional style martial artist get mauled by grapplers in UFC. I think a good little fighter would beat a bad big fighter, but would never beat a good big fighter.

Bruce Lee is amazing, but he's not so great when compared to Jet Li.
Jet Li actually fought in real life throughout his life time(Not counting after he became a movie star). He won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN !!CHINA!! 5 TIMES in a row! Not to mention he knows more than 14 forms of Kung-Fu. Even Chinese Kung-Fu masters call him a "God of Kung Fu". He won the championship when he was only 11 years old fighting against 20 - 30 years old masters. He holds so many records I can't type 'em all here, but here are some of 'em taken from his biography site. (BTW, winning the national championship in China over five times is something incredible. You know how many Kung-Fu masters are there in China who's been doing nothing but Kung-Fu)

-1974 : Gold Champion of Youth National Athletic Competitio
-1975 : Gold Champion of the 3rd China Martial Competition
-1977 : Gold Champion of the National Martial Competition
-1978 : Gold Champion of the National Martial Competition
-1979 : Gold Champion of the 4th China Martial Competition
-1974-79 : Eight times represents China for guest performance over
40 countries including Europe,Asia, America, Africa and Middle East etc.

1. All-around, optional fist form and broadsword champion.
2. Fixed fist form and spear second place in the 3rd National Martial Competition.
3. Fist form and broadsword champion in National Wushu Competition.
4. All-around, fist form, broadsword and fixed fist form champion in National Wushu Competition.
5. All-around, superior fixed fist form, optional fist form, broadsword and sparring form champion

Have you guys ever read up on Bruce Lee?

Bruce Lee, in 1 day with a new heavy left such noticable damage to it, it was required to be replaced. In his prime, Bruce Lee would not spar with anyone seriously for fear of hurting them. He had his own training center he had made especially for him and his needs.

Mike Tyson in his prime is a rapist. Now he's a freaky scary rapist.

Who would I bet on? The one inch punch all the way.

HAHAHAH

Anyhow, it's really tough to say, but realize this all you idiots who can't read, he did say PRIME. Also those of you who say that Bruce can punch as hard as Mike, Mike is wearing padded gloves while he drops people with 1 punch. If mike caught bruce just right with a bare fist he wouldnt break his nose, he'd break his skull.

The only thing Mike has against him is he's a dumb azz to say the least, so he'd probably charge bruce, get kicked in the leg and have his knee shattered, and that'd be the end of him..

All in all, advantage: WOLVERINE

And Bruce Lee punches like a pansy? I'd say Bruce Lee has as much force in a punch as Tyson. I fail to see how this is even a contest

Agility -> Bruce
Versatility -> Bruce
Striking Distance ? idk kick > punch but bruce is much smaller than tyson.
Strength ? They are both super strong mofos

Advantage -> Bruce

Bruce all the way. Mike's just not a tactical enough fighter. He's just an agressive power puncher. It wouldn't take too long for him to do something dumb and bruce would own him.

Also, look at what they can bench as opposed to their body weights and size. Bruce Lee could bench over 250 pounds at a "measly" 127 pounds. Tyson might be able to bench a lot, but what is the body weight ratio?

Pound for pound, I'd bet $5 that Lee packs more ammo than Tyson.

if lee could take out his knees before tyson could catch him, he could take him. He'd have to run like a chicken in the meantime tho.

Check out this .avi file of Bruce Lee's "one inch punch" from a demonstration in 1964. Lots of power in that little guy.

One inch punch

that video is a joke, he's pushing him just as much as punching him and the guy is making no effort to stay in place

Boards dont hit back 🙂.

Kung fu, wing-chun, Jeet kune do is a form of street fighting martial art. It uses finesse rather then brute force, wing chun was "invented" by a woman, it uses blows to crucial weakpoints of the human anotomy which enables single strikes to down the opponent very efficiently. If bruce lee got into a ring with mike tyson, tyson wouldnt last 3 seconds considering he doesnt know how to use his legs. If a fight lasts longer then 10 seconds, your style is flawed. Boxing was designed to entertain, E.g the Round system. Secondly muscles dont matter, as speed is what delivers the force of the blow. Boxers dont know how to react to kicks as there not trained to do so, and bruce would know 🙂

firstly, martial arts isn't about lifting weights, and benching 250lbs at 127 isnt that uncommon. I weighed close to 135 when i was 16-17yrs old and was able to bench 215lbs - and thats after breaking my hand and being in a cast for 6 weeks 6 months earlier. Id be utterly shocked if Tyson couldnt bench 500+ lbs. and if anybody ever saw Tyson in his prime you'd know he was quick as a cat! Not only would Tyson win the fight bruce lee would be dead in about 2minutes.

[edit]isnt not is

Bruce Lee. Tyson is big, slow and dumb. He would get smacked around by Lee

firstly youve obviously never saw tyson in his prime, but even now tyson could whoop bruce lee's butt

Brude Lee, most definitely.

What surprises me on this forum is that a ton of people think Tyson can punch harder than Bruce Lee. It is typical of many matial arts students to be able to break blocks of wood and concrete with their bare hands. All it takes is one shot and Tyson would have his back broken.

"boards don't hit back" - Bruce Lee

Ironic, ain't it? 😀

No its not ironic because bruce lee never demonstrated with boards.

its really funny that people believe weight, and strength are the vital factors of winning a fight.
1 crucial blow to the abdomen, neck, eyes, groin, knees and your opponent wont be able to continue. This is what jeet kune do is all about, finesse and death blows backed up by highly efficient training routines. The smallest of people would be able to eliminate the biggest of people.

I remember reading something about Bruce sparring with Ali (punches only, no kicks) and he was holding his own. He also got punched in the face by some 300 pound wrestler and after his neck almost snapped on a talk show, bruce just laughed at him.
