And I'm still a bit unclear on this concept of "fleetsaving." That sounds like you're just moving your fleet so it doesn't get targeted. But doesn't that leave your planet (and resources) completely undefended?
well, the way you can help someone is, attack someone that's attacking them. when that player sees that they are getting attacked, hopefuly they will pull back their fleet to defend their resources.
fleetsaving: you put all your resources in your cargo ships, then send them away along with your attack ships, when the attack is over, you can call them back and have your resources back. at the same time, the attacker goes back home empty handed![]()
this leaves your planet unprotected (unless you have built some sort of defense), but what do you have to lose when you have no resources on the planet?he cannot destroy your buildings or research, so its a pointless war and most likely he'll pull back his attacking fleet

But can you do that in the process of being attacked? Or is that something you do if you think you are about to be attacked?
Because even though you send your resources out you'll continue to produce them and maybe you get attacked later after you are offline and accumulated a ton of stuff for them to pilfer
BTW when there is ship combat is it totally automatic or is there any manual process invovled? IOW, is there any benefit to you actually being online when someone attacks you and you leave ships for defense? In terms of the combat itself...
