Brown Rice fast

I'm going to start a brown rice fast soon. I'll try and go a full 2 weeks, then reintroduce veggies and meats.

Has anyone else done this? How did it go? What were your results?
 
I think my mum did this a long time ago, i remember she said she felt quite rough for the first few days, then started to feel much better and healthier after that..

Not sure how long she did it for though..

Then that means go to the doctor, NOT go on some crazy fad detox diet. Veggies, fruits, and protein are going to help your body cope and stay healthy. You are only harming your body by doing something like this. It is EXTREMELY unhealthy. Everything in moderation. You don't make one staple your entire diet.

This is not a diet, its a fast. Fasting is also a healthy practice.

Normal fasting is done for hours or for a day. In that case, research has shown that the body utilizes the nutrients in a more efficient manner. However, you should not be eating one food for weeks. That is ridiculous, unproven, and unsafe. I could say that blueberries are healthy. Should I only eat them for a couple of weeks? No. No one food contains all the right vitamins and nutrients required for good health. Brown rice is only healthy if introduced in a normal diet. Too much of a "healthy" thing can be just as toxic as too much of a bad thing.

No, that's completely incorrect. There has been research that shows that intermittent fasting throughout the day distributes the nutrients in a manner more conducive to minimizing muscle breakdown while in a caloric deficit so in that respect, you're incorrect.

What resource are you getting your fasting info from? Because from what I'm hearing, it sounds like a fad that actually has no merit. Those detox diets are bullcrap because actual detox can only be done through eating the right things, not eating only one singular thing.

We can agree to disagree when you have a medical basis for all this because it really goes against all the actual rules of good nutrition. I have science behind me at this point, so unless you wanna feel like crap for the next two weeks, I suggest you bear with me and listen to what I have to say.

I'm not saying that fasting is not an option, but I'm saying that eating one food is completely unhealthy. You won't get the full range of amino acids, vitamins, and fats. You will be rushing your body with large amounts of carbohydrates, which when not balanced with other macronutrients are going to negatively affect things like your immune system, nervous system, muscle development, endocrine system, etc. I'm not trying to sound like a douche, but I'm legitimately worried that you will be harming your body in this period of time.

I, on the other hand, am both trying to sound like a douche and convinced that this is a bad idea. The "toxins" you refer to won't be cleansed by eating just simple carbs for a week any more than they would be if you ate lard for the same week.

If you can find research or even measurable anecdotal evidence to support your conclusion, then feel free to ignore us. You won't.
 
sounds interesting. keep us updated on the results. have you looked into food combinations for your ulcers food combination info

I'm currently following thoose guidelines except for pre and post work out nutrition.

Still not sure what the big deal about this is. I take my dumps nightly. Sometimes is a few lumps, some times I get to use the plunger. I'm not going to take Metamucil or something just so I can take a crap every night.

Now, the intestinal parasites, on the other hand, are something to get worked up about.
 
Awful idea. Might as well fast on Taco Bell for two weeks instead because its going to have about the same positive impact on your body.
 
The symptoms you describe sound similar to what I encounter sometimes while traveling and what are typically cured by antibiotics. I usually just buy them myself but if you're in the states you'll have to go to a doctor and it won't be hard to get them. This fasting business is foolish just take the pills and they will kill the bug.
 
If you are having stomach problems, first thing to do is see the doctor. Also, removing grains and dairy from the diet can be beneficial for those who have a sensitivity/allergy to gluten or lactose (or both).
 
Listen to SociallyChallenged before you hurt yourself. Go to a doctor and find out what the real problem is before you make your problems far worse.

That's not quite right. Preservatives, pesticides, harsh chemicals are all found in foods and are toxic to the body. The way to counter that is to eat healthy, drink tons of water, etc.

I'm sorry? Do you know what MSG is? Do you know what dairy/gluten are to people who have allergies? All the things I mentioned above are POISONOUS to the body. They are processed and broken down into simple molecules that are often times free radicals. Free radicals kill cells.

All that processed crap you put in your mouth every time you hit up a crappy fast food place is toxic. Your liver deals with it, but it can only do so for a certain amount of time. Ever taken a biochem or organic chem course? You'll learn what's a toxin and what's not.

get a clue man. how about the indisputable fact that there is pesticide residue on fruits and vegetables. eat a peach and you are getting 10+ different pesticides. you can wash it, but you cant remove 100%. or what about things that arent even put on labels, like the chemicals used to make the lining for canned goods(bisphenol A, for instance). and just take a look at the food labels and ingredients lists for your average supermarket products. there are PLENTY of chemical preservatives and additives which are clearly toxic compounds. whether the dosage you get from eating these foods is enough to have any effect is a different issue, but you cant debate that there are toxins added to many processed foods.
