I hope Intel doesn't just add a higher pricing tier for the 10core, and instead makes it the $1k SKU and adjust the rest underneath accordingly.

If they sold the 8core for $600ish, I'd be in!

Will they use all the first production wafers/dies for the lower margin Broadwell-E and they will start production later for the EP ???

They use the same die.

But the higher core count EP SKUs have additional dies.

For example, on Haswell E5 there were 8C, 12C and 18C dies. The Consumer Extreme edition chips used the 8C E5 die. AFAIK, there were no harvested 8C for Extreme edition using the 12C die as a starting point.

I know that but all three Haswell-EP dies were launched in Q3 2014, same time as Haswell-E for the socket 2011-V3.

March 2016 release, aka Q1 2016.


I've been waiting forever to make my new build and I've pushed it from Ivy-E, to HW-E and I was set to go with BD-E and now am rewarded with a pleasant surprise. Previous documentation had the same old 6/6/8 setup. I'm confident the delay allowed this.

Now it's making me wonder if I should wait till sky-e, lol..
