<< The smoking, as well as reports that Britney occasionally boozes, has infuriated the Rev. David Kelly, pastor of the Louisiana church she used to attend. "Smoking and drinking isn't what Christ wanted. It is disobedient," Kelly told Heat magazine.

Yeah right. I have seen more wine sucked down at funerals-weddings-baptisims (sp) to contradict this "Rev". And I really could care less what she does, how she does it, where and with whom. ;)

I think that there are too issues here. Neither of which is the simple fact that she smokes. I don't smoke, and I don't like it when people smoke around me. If someone wants to smoke, and they do it where I can't breathe it, that's their choice.

The first issue is that she is obviously lying publicly about her "clean living". While the virgin thing isn't exactly confirmed, we do know that she drinks (I'm pretty sure there is evidence), and now smokes. These are entirely contrary to what she is telling people, and what she is saying she stands for. I don't see what the problem with the alcohol is. If they say there is a religious problem with it, they are lying. The Bible never forbids alcohol, just states that it should be used in moderation.

The other issue is that most of Britney's fans are 10 - 15 year olds, mostly girls. At that age, and since they are at that "do like every one else" age, people are afraid that this will encourage them to start smoking. It's sad that kids copy everything they see their idols do, but I guess it's part of human nature.

In the immortal words of BBD - "Slap it up, flip it, rub it down - Oh no!"

Have you thought that she's hidden her smoking and drinking pretty well? Yes a lucky photographer caught her with a cig in her hand. How long has she gone without being caught? She tells the public things that, although not true for her, may influence the young women in a positive manner. So she smokes but tells the world she doesn't. Who cares.

And I have a video of her telling a guy on the beach that he's a "sad motherf*cker." Big freakin' deal.

She shouldn't, however, deny it. I don't care what she does, but lying about it isn't cool.

Even if all she wants to say is "I'm an adult now, what I do is none of your damn business, kindly disregard any statements I made before I came of age." - That's her choice.

"She is such a well-known person that we want her to continue being a good example of what it is to be a Baptist."

Um, ok, so, as long as she wasn't smoking or drinking or having sex, she was still a good example of what it is to be a Baptist? Has this reverend seen the way she dresses?!?!?

i still love her..

you folks do realize that no sex clean living crap is just marketing right? you have any idea how many young kids listen to her? of course she doesn't want people to know. being as popular as her you have to be careful because a lot of people look up to you, and her people know that.

anyhow.. unf.

What I'm really waiting on is Mickey Mouse Girls Gone Wild with Britney, Christina, and Keri Russell all drunk and doing a little diving. Know what I mean? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Say no more....

<< For years, the curvy singer has preached to her fans about the benefits of clean living - no sex before marriage, no boozing and no smoking. >>

LOL! I believe she's 0 for 3 out of those. She's definitely not a virgin, now we find out that she drinks and smokes too.
>>

How is it that she's definitely not a virgin? Have you* seen her broken hymen?

Actually, Jesus might have been called a WINEBIBBER or a GLUTTON. He knew that celebration was the motivation for joy in the Disciplines of Celebration. [Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth, by Richard J. Foster].
