Have you ever taken time out of your day to find a nice Muslim lady and ask her how she feels about Burka's and veils? I have. I think you will be surprised by some of the responses you get. Many Muslim women are proud to wear Hijabs/Burkas/etc. It is a cultural dress. In some Muslim countries...yes, this clothing is a way to control a woman's sexuality or whatever, but in many other Muslim countries, women wear it because it means something to them. Just because a woman is wearing a Burka or a Hijab does not mean she is being oppressed.

Stop with the rational thought and whatnot. This is purely an irrational feeling thread, based on fear and ignorance. No need to muddy the waters with logic and insight.

Troll on Indigestible.

You know, there is a such thing as a black muslim.

And to answer your question, no...they shouldn't be banned. Burkas/veils and whatever the hell else is not banned at my University and we have yet to have any "security threats" due to people being allowed to wear these types of clothing.

You are so damn focused on Muslims its ridiculous.

Yeah here in virginia pretty much all school shootings are done by people with normal "American" clothing. And most of those were straight while males.

Allowing these for photo id as some want is pure retardation, but incorruptible you may want to contrast your concern over potential threats of a covered face with your view that somebody walking around with an ar is not a threat 🙂

The 2nd Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms and open carry is legal. I'm not scared of a law abiding citizen exercising their rights. They aren't a threat because it's right out in the open.

Now the burka isn't part of the religion and there is no reason to wear it, it is worn by women who are forced by their husbands/fathers and some who have been indoctrinated by too much religion. This is a threat because you can't see the face and have no idea who is under there. Not seeing the face does worry me.

It's also the failure of multiculturalism since if a normal person wears a mask then they are told to take it off but it's alright for them. Also they are allowed to wear it in court.

As well in the thread about open carry I recall some liberals having a problem with it yet the same liberals are alright with the burka, hypocrites.

The 1st Amendment guarantees the freedom for people to express themselves. That includes cultural observances. You are scared of law abiding citizens exercising their 1st Amendment rights. That's the beginning and the end of it.

Everything you said afterward is your own irrational fears because you don't like something. Your feelings on it don't matter in the least. It is their right under the First Amendment and you are openly speaking against their rights. (I'm referring to in general and obviously not this specific case since it's in the UK).

It's a very derpy post, but that's probably my favorite part.

The burka isn't part of the religion, Got any evidence to show it is? No, of course you don't.

It may not be part of their religion, but, it is certainly part of their culture.

Stop being obtuse. You have a problem with Muslims and you constantly contradict your "values" whenever a Muslim is involved.

Freedom of Religion? Sure, for Christians. For Muslims? That's Sharia Law!

My opinion is that the burqa is disgusting, an affront to women, and something that does not belong in Western culture or anywhere else. However, I don't advocate legislating against it. Preventing someone who genuinely wants to wear it from doing so is as bad as forcing someone to actually wear it.

Yep. Just ignore the muslims that beheaded those dudes in London earlier this year. Silly extremists!

seriously, fuck muslims and anyone who follows their religion of "peace"

Sorry to say, but I've met several muslim women who prefer their traditions. What we consider weird is perfectly normal for them, and it works the other away around too.

Unless their use of veils is actively infringing upon your rights, freedom of religion comes to mind here.

I can care less what anyone wears on their head. However, those who are dogmatic against not wearing X religious clothing that should be laughed at and disregarded into the backwardass gutter. And we know which group fits that criteria the most.

You clearly have reading comprehension issues since the burka isn't part of the religion and is CULTURAL.

As you no doubt know, this is totally FALSE. The burqa is most definitely worn in observance of Islam. Not all Muslims believe it is a required part of their faith, but this does not mean it is not a religious practice. It is, in that respect, similar to the way not all Jews believe it is necessary to keep kosher as part of their faith, and not all Christians agree with the interpretation given to the Bible by Catholics, who believe it requires a celibate clergy, or Christian Scientists, who believe it proscribes the use of medical interventions.

I still maintain you are an invented troll character, but whether that is accurate or not, you are probably the only member of this forum who is, for all intents and purposes, considered a fool by every other member. For your sake I hope this is one big, extended, unfunny joke.

No it's not. The Quran clearly states women are to dress modestly but that doesn't mean the burka. Many Muslims have admitted that it isn't part of Islam but it's used by men to control women and some are indoctrinated by too much religion.

For women: Cover your chest (24:31); Lengthen your garments (33:59) and for both sexes; The BEST garment is righteousness and modest conduct (7:26).

Nobody gives a shit you fucking cartoon. They have every right to wear it. That's the First Amendment in its glory you asshat. Quit with your bullshit already. Your act is tired.

I know many muslim women who wear head coverings with pride. Unless you can prove every fucking muslim woman is being forced against their will then you are trying to limit people's rights because you don't like it. Every person who has posted in this thread has told you that.

Of course again you will ignore this fact. But let's get it out in the open. Do you agree that any muslim woman is free to wear whatever covering they want and are protected as such by the First Amendment? Yes or no? If yes why are you attacking the constitution?

Why has religion got anything to with it?

Are the only rights to be respected religious ones?
