Actually I was thinking of using my rectum. I bet I could fit like 30 Mike & Ikes up there, and I can pop one out whenever I get hungry... like an upside down Pez dispenser.

Admit it, you don't really care about the whole "movie" angle here, do you? :p

Well there's your problem, the idea of taking kids to movies is absolutely ridiculous. You think your six year old cares if they have to wait an extra couple months to see Toy Story 10 on DVD?
You must have never been around kids. They don't just want to be there opening weekend, they want to be at the very first showing of the very first show in the entire city.

Besides...who the eff can eat a jumbo popcorn AND gets it refilled in the same movie besides the morbidly obese?

The jumbo popcorn with refill is not for eating, theater popcorn is terrible, it is for throwing at the idiot infront of you texting and then talking on his cell phone.

Anyone ever see a sign posted at the movie theater that says you CANNOT bring in your own food/drink? I haven't.

The ticketing window will have a sign posted, also it will be in the EULA for the ticket. Yes, movie tickets have a EULA.

I always sneak in food to sports stadiums and theaters. Im not paying the shitty prices they charge.

Kudos to the Oakland A's, they let you bring in all the food you want.

When I go to a movie it's with my wife or dad, brother etc. Six bucks for a jumbo popcorn (w/free refill) and a buck and a half for the giant refillable cup they sell. OH NOES $7.50 AND I COULD BUY IT AT WALMART FOR A DOLLAR WHATARIPOFF!! RAGERAGERAGE!!!11!!!

5.50 for a large refill once soda (that I can never finish)
6.50 for a "tub o' corn" refill once
courtesy cups for my kids to give them soda.

Still comes to 12 bucks for refreshments, plus like 15 bucks for tickets for the 3 of us to see a matinee, plus the stop off at walgreens to get some candy for them.

Holy crap I wish we had a theater like that around here. I think the best nearby is $7.50 per matinee ticket, drinks start at around $5 for 12oz, and popcorn is somewhere in the ballpark of $4 for a small (not sure on volume). I'm not sure on the candy since I never actually buy the concessions and those prices are at the counter -- this is just from seeing the menu on the wall as I walk to the showing. I'm not sure what the Imax theater charges since I haven't been.

The only other good theater within 30 minutes drive on the interstate is a Cinema Cafe, and there you order a whole meal :p Haven't been there either.

I usually don't eat at movies...they're not that long. I can go that long without eating I'm not going to die.

the local minor league team's advertise it. they don't care just as long as people come heh.

also the minor league teams are much more fun to watch.

you're allowed to bring your own food in to Phillies games....we usually stop and get a few hoagies at a deli before we go to games... drinks are allowed too, as long as they're sealed

Wow, you mean you don't have to pay $6 for a hot dog and $10 for a coors light? I suddenly have a new found respect for the Phillies organization.

Really? You think people that eat snacks at a movie can't go that long without eating? It's enjoyable to have some candy or a snack a drink while watching a movie. They go hand in hand which is why the movie theaters sell concessions at such ridiculously high prices. They know people enjoy it and will pay if there are no alternatives.

There's a reason why the sign says "please" before "no outside food and drinks." basically, there is no law supporting their " right" to deny you with your food and drink. I would just say I had a strange food allergy that they could not service if they dared to say anything.

You are kidding right? It's a private establishment, they can set rules like that. Don't like it, don't go.

You got it backwards. You have no 'right' to enter their establishment except by the contract you agree to when you buy the ticket. Part of that contract is 'no outside food and drinks.' Break the contract and they have every right to toss your but to the sidewalk.

LOTS of normal weight people eat large amounts of food. They normally have super fast metabolisms, thus don't have the calorie issues that others do.

The AMC theaters I go to allow you to bring your own food. They recently had to change it to "non-odorous" food because people would bring kimchee and other smelly food.

You're partially right. They could disallow all food, but they don't. By allowing food but only what they sell, they would be discriminating against Americans with disabilities. Food is a necessity that would be hard to argue in court especially without an explicit contract.

Regardless, the signs I've seen say "please," so it is a request and not a contractual term.

autism or aspingers more than likely...

To those thinking pizza, that's one of the foods I find a very poor choice. For one any food that has a major aroma should not be brought in....

rednecks do it here, they get those huge costco pizzas and the box ends up hitting those in front and doesn't fit in their laps. Plus sharing a pizza has too much noise going back and forth about slices and all that.

Then the assholes are kicking around an empty box the rest of the movie.

The only thing we buy in the theater is popcorn....candy and sodas are in wife's purse. Done this for years as have lots of others....nothing new.

remember back in the day when some places would order their employees to walk up and down the isles?

I'm like... dude, they stopped that in the 2000's, I'm so thankful for that. I bring all sorts of stuff into theather now like danishes in stuff. I love it..
