The best thing Walgreens ever did was to advertise "Movie candy" in the movie candy size boxes and offer it at a substantial discount over what you would pay in the theater. The prices at movie theaters for concessions are absurd. So we always stop at Walgreens and get our candy and my wife puts it in her purse and in we go. We usually relent and buy drinks there as sort of a "concession" (see what i did there??) to the theater but no way am I going to pay $4-5 for a box of candy I can get for $1. Seems like a lot of people do this now and I have often wondered how I would react if they did purse checks or some such. They couldn't tell her to take the candy out of her purse but I guess they could say we couldn't eat it in the theater. I wonder how they handle it or if they just choose to ignore it.

If they started checking purses you'd just have to get more clever about where you hide it.

Why not?

As an aside, I can remember going to baseball games as a kid and our family would bring a cooler of food. Hot dogs wrapped in foil, peanuts, bananas. Yeah, you were actually allowed to do that.

ding

It's her choice to keep the candy but it's the theater's choice to not let her in.

pretty sure it is not allowed, they can refuse you entry for that. Or kick you out.

Back in highschool we would always go to the movies with a handicap kid. He would wear a winter jacket and stuff it with bags of chips, two-liters, boxes of candy, etc...

They would never even question him. LOL

If they start checking purses just take a baggy of candy and tap it to your balls.

Actually I was thinking of using my rectum. I bet I could fit like 30 Mike & Ikes up there, and I can pop one out whenever I get hungry... like an upside down Pez dispenser.

when i worked at one they just ignored it. people would bring in all sorts of crap to eat - even boxes of kfc ( weirdly there wasn't one for miles around ).

sure they could, and if she doesn't want to co-operate she would likely be refunded for her ticket and asked to leave.

I'm fine with that then and I would absolutely leave if that happened. Too many theaters around my house to be forced to pay those prices.

Funny since we take food and drinks to games all the time. They only thing they ask is that we unscrew the top of the containers if they are not sealed so that they can smell for alcohol. Alcohol is the only thing they won't let you bring in for the most part. That and glass bottles or aerosols.

Our theater has a bucket for $15 that can be refilled the rest of the year for $2.50. that and smuggled candy are the only way to be able to see more than one movie a month with a family of 5.

Why do you even need to eat while watching a movie? I've only had popcorn once at the movies and can't say I enjoyed it much, since my hands were buttery afterwards. Of course I don't watch many movies at the theater.
