The best sci-fi TV series ever made - I'd love for it to come back, but it would be hard to live up to the original. Updated CGI would be very welcome though.

Every time a new episode of Castle comes on I think of Firefly. And then I think of this thread, so bring back Firefly! And all the other good shows.

JMS has had plenty of opportunities to reassurect the B5 universe. It's just not going to happen. There needs to be a total break from previous series/movies for it to be successful.

The problem with coming up with something new is that coming up with genuinely good ideas is hard.

I'm just sad that there's too much shit like True Blood / The Vampire Diaries / The House of Anubis / The Nine Lives of <whatever>. Low budget schlock aimed at younger teenagers.

Personally, I'd like to see Fringe go for a few more seasons if they can figure out good story arcs.

It shouldn't be, there is tons of good sci-fi out there, you just have to to to your local library to find it. It is getting funding for it that is hard.

B5 was poison. AWFUL acting and deus ex machina endings every episode. No, terrible terrible terrible.

I tried to rewatch B5, but couldn't do it. The acting is just too pathetic to stomach.

Only if Mira Furlan still looked like this.

nothing should be brought back. that's half the problem right there.
Some things can come back. Babylon 5 however was set from inception to the end of the show. We know B5 is the last of the Babylon stations, We know the future as it's been shown and explored.

B5 is my favorite sci fi series by far, but that said, I think too many characters' actors have died for a comeback with the original cast to be successful.

I think some other events in the B5 universe could be potentially be expanded upon (earth-minbari war / telepath war / previous shadow war comes to mind)
They can be expanded on but unless they decide to pull a JJ Abrams Star Trek and negate all that we already know, it's going to be boring.

I guess I watched a different Babylon 5. No where near the best sci-fi series ever made. I liked it, but not enough that I want to revisit it or see it continue.

I liked seasons 1-4. Season 5 and that bitch that ran the station were too annoying to watch. Then the movies were meh. That Legend of the Rangers attempt at a show SUUCKED. Made my skin crawl.

Well, it doesn't have to be set on the Babylon station; just within the B5 universe. Just like if there was a new Star Trek series following Captain Sisko as an instructor at Starfleet Academy, I'd watch that too. Or even Picard, but the key is I'd want it done in the more serious fashion after Deep Space 9. As for B5, there's the telepath war, that could be the series setting. Among the focus points could be Londo and Centauri Prime, Garibaldi running that corp on Mars and his activities during the Telepath War, Bester of course, etc.

Also, at least as far as I'm concerned, this post has grown away from just Bablyon 5 and is also about Firefly or any other worthy of returning series, ESPECIALLY Firefly, actually. I tried editing the post title but it didn't seem to work :(

Oooh, hadn't thought about that...

I'm sure someone will say I'm dreaming but even a miniseries about Valen AKA Jeffrey Sinclair's adventures back in the earlier Shadow War...

Hell ya!

Sheridan and Dalenns Kid would be a good story since it would have Vir Cotto possibly as the emperor as the bad guy which would be hilarious. Its close enough to the B5 series to tied into but a completely clean canvas as well. Its been long enough that a complete rewrite of the future B5 Universe would be easy to pull off.

Problem is that Vir Cotto is not a complex character at all. Londo's rise and fall, on the other hand, was classic greek tragedy.

Well they could kill him off in the first season.

Londo and Gkar were two of the best!

The one armed man turned out to be a pretty good alien.

I'd like to see some exploration of Vorlon space. I know they weren't supposed to go back for a million years, but maybe there's some trick or hole or something :)

Expensive creative content? No, only formulaic scripted reality TV for you!

OK, I'm cool with that... How about a SciFi reality show about planning a manned mission to Mars? Watching things like astronaut training and rocket tests would be a hell of a lot cooler than most of the pointless crap they show on so called "reality" TV.

What would you name then? Perhaps Firefly could have beaten it, but it didn't last long enough. I stand by my comment. It's not flawless, but seasons 2-4 were amazing.
