And good god it looks like they're going to completely ruin it 🙁
http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/bridgetoterabithia/

It's been a long time since i read the book as a kid, but i do remember reading it many many times...it was my favorite book for a long time.

Now seeing the trailers for the movie disgusts me.
Looks like they are trying to go for a Narnia-style fantasy movie, which is completely not what the book was about...

I guess only time will tell though.

Read the sad spoilers... 🙁
According to wikipedia, the title was based inadvertently from the Narnia books...

When I was young my friend and I used to build huge snow forts and we named one of them Terabithia 🙂

go see it, i saw the trailers and thought that too, but it was a very good movie, sadder than Old Yeller!! the trailers are misleading

but very good

don't take 8 year olds though, too sad!!

i had no idea what this was about, i just thought it was some animated whatevev, but it was a great story!!! but sad 🙁 but very good!!

what the hell is w/ all that CG? As someone have mentioned, that's not what it's about. wtf.

and during my 2nd reading run of that novel, I didn't want to read over the part about..well you know.

I knew it was coming, but... 🙁. It's a great kids novel.

there are only a few minutes of CG in the movie

the trailers are misleading, i didn't know what it was about, and i kept waiting for them to switch to the animated part of the movie and it never did

there are just some scenes with it, the movie is 98% real life kids, not CG

i don't know why they show so much CG in the trailers, it is misleading

Exactly...they're marketing this movie like a Chronicle of Narnia type movie. The book is nothing like that.

Narnia sucked musky bonobo balls, I have no confidence in Disney to make a movie that isn't a boring, cliched, over-rendered trainwreck.

Maybe this one will be lucky like Pirates, then again its not Depp to make it.

the movie isn't like that, the marketing people must not have seen the movie

i never heard of the book until my 13 year old said she wanted to see this movie, because she read the book and said it was an awesome book

if you like the book , see the movie, it isn't a CG fest

I remember reading it in 6th or 7th grade, and I absolutely hated it, but apparently I'm in the minority here.

Okay i finally got around to seeing the movie.

Not sure how to put it, but holy crap i cried more than i ever have watching any movie. 🙁

As a kid, i read the book quite a few times, & each time i was so sad.

There are so many things in that movie that remind of my childhood, & how it was so similar & so unsimilar at the same time.
In fact, i basically imagined up my own world when i was around that age, & that world included a "Leslie", though that wasn't her name.

There are just too many things in the book & movie that hit home way too hard.

Enough about that though 🙁

The movie was incredible IMO aside from the fantasy CG aspects, which didn't exist in the book, & really didn't need to exist in the movie.
Fortunately, it wasn't too bad, but it still was a completely unnecessary addition.

As for what was based around the book, the movie did an amazing job of portrayal.
Far better than i could have expected.

Overall, it was far better than i ever dreamed it could be, & while it's so sad, it's a very deep story than i think most of us can relate to in some way or another.

9.9/10

No one read books as kid i take it? 😛

it sat on our bookshelf for ages, but for some reason I never chose to read it.

Sometimes, the things you never did, could have changed the outcome of your life.
Go read that book, it will straighten you right up. 😉
