his last throw was an INT that ended it all

Not nearly as bad as Marino's (and Jimmy Johnson's) last game.

I won't miss him one bit. I never liked him and never will. I am glad he retired. I know he will be a first ballot HOF, so, maybe, after all the crap about him dies down after a few weeks, I won't have to hear about him again for five years. It could be the best five years of my life.

because the odds on getting that close again are low. not to mention he is very old for a QB.

he has been considering retirement for the last few years. this is a good year to do it.

How do you really judge the age of a QB? When kids on forums say he's old? When he starts getting injured a lot?

You have rookies out there that lack the durability to play more than a few games without being injured. On the other hand, you have guys like Brett Favre who play over 270 straight games.

As it stands now, you have a guy that in his 17th season hasn't missed a game due to injury, and you have a young QB who's been injured in practice and has already proven himself to be very injury prone.

Who do you really think is more likely to get injured next year? I can guarantee you it will be Rogers.

i mainly go by the fact that he say she is to old for it.

Favre is #1 alltime in nfl jersey sales. :Q There's a 75k waiting list for Pack season tickets...I wonder how quickly that will change.

Another term for "gunslinger" is "lucky". It seemed that his stats (especially his INTs) sucked when he did not have absolutely top-flight WRs to throw to (See Also Culpepper, Dante).

are you telling me he was not a fun QB to watch? he made games exciting by turning broken plays into touchdowns, or gave you a heart attack by throwing a ball right at a defensive player for the interception. good or bad he made games very exciting. i dont know how you can hate him.

Maybe in a few years, Farve can become a really bad Packers' head coach, too.

Yeah, he beat my Seahawks in the playoffs, but when he made that stumbling, bumbling, one-handed underhand toss to save a drive in the red zone I had to give it to him. Every once in a while there is a player who can even win over opposing fans with his inspirational play, and this one will be missed.

Being robbed at gunpoint is also exciting and can give you a heart attack. That does not make it a good thing.

Don't worry, Farve is just one of many football players I hate.

Last year he had the highest completion percentage of his career (and hadn't thrown less interceptions for over a decade.)

So, then you're faulting him for not performing better the previous few years without a huge running game and healthy receivers to rely on and spread the field...you can't have it both ways.

Joe Montana put up All-Pro numbers with average WRs and no running game in 1981 and 1983. Why? Because he was not a "gunslinger". He knew when and where to throw regardless of the talent around him. Montana did not rely on broken plays and lucky bounces to build his legend.

You (and about 99% of current NFL players) obviously lack one of the qualities that drew so many to be fond of Brett ...

CLASS !

Sad day indeed.

He's been in the league as long as I've got a memory of watching football. Makes me hate Eli Manning all the more. Would've been nice for Favre to be able to ride off into the sunset, but instead, as someone pointed out, his last attempt ended in an interception. Maybe that's fitting for his career, since he did seem to take a lot of chances, but he's still one of the greatest to ever play.
