It would take years, if not hundreds of years to accomplish what you are suggesting. Animals like Jaguars or any wild animal has the wild instinct bred in them. Same way a house cat behaves a certain way its because of there programmed type code in their dna. You would have to completely isolate a particular species to make it domesticated. Wild animals are wild and their instincts won't readily be bred out of them either.

as with the fox example its been found to work very rapidly. select for one good trait aka less fear of humans and many other traits come along as well for free. less stress hormones=much tamer animal
its just that theres no motivation or funds to attempt such a thing with such dangerous animals.

I don't think any animal with the capability to easily kill an adult male should ever be considered a domestic pet.

On the hand I really like to have a pet panda, but I can imagine it's a pita to maintain such an exotic animal.
