Will update as I find something.

Doesn't suprise me. Hell, they all (and I mean both D and R and I and L and any other party name you want to place here) do it. They all need kicked out and started over. Twoo damn many people in there too long, too much corruption.

Per CNN: He was found guilty on ALL 7 counts.

Of course watch the people of AK re-elect him. :p

As bad as the case was put together I thought he get off. I am betting he may some good reason for appeal. But I just hope he loses his senate race/seat. Also is there a rule you lose retirment/benifits if you are sentanced while still holding office?

Stevens was down 1 in the last poll on RCP so with this I doubt he gets re-elected.

I wonder if Palin could have stepped in to replace him had she not been the VP pick

well... if he resigns his seat, palin will get to pick a replacement. regardless, looks like dems just pick up another seat towards the magic 60.

Are talking logic or what will actually happen?

Remember this is the alaska that elected him for 40 years and palin.

Good. Can't wait for him to be sentenced!

He can get up to 5 years per count (7 counts) but Yahoo news stated that he was could possibly face a much less sentence and no jail time. Figures.

There are rumors on the internets that Gov. Sarah Palin has been palling around with convicted felons.

I'm just sayin'... She should be open and come clear regarding her past associations, as Americans deserve to know. Things like this should be addressed by Gov. Palin, because they directly relate to her judgement.

Why does anyone think this seat will go to a Democrat? Alaska is very Republican. When the previous governor was tossed out in a scandal, he was replaced with Republican Palin. Republican Palin, who has nearly 60% disapproval nationally, has the highest approval of any governor from her Republican state. I don't see any reason to expect Alaska to elect a Democrat. Maybe they will, but why would they when they are so far Republican?

Can he resign now and let Sarah Palin appoint herself as his replacement? Then she could put herself on the ballot for Alaska senator and tell McCain that she just can't pass up an opportunity like this? Then Romney or Huckabee could rush in to replace her on the VP ticket. Then Bush could ask for a thirty day delay in the elections to give both sides an equal chance.
