Breaking News - this is gonna be big...

Im predicting that this is gonna be a big story. Debka reported this a few days ago and now ME NEWSLINE. It seems there was a huge explosion in the main Syrian scud missile plant and chemical weapons plant. It seems a bunch of North koreans were killed there. Israeli intelligence is suspected. This happened on March 24th, but the Syrians never released it to the press. I follow Debka closely and they have been pretty accurate in the past, which is why they earned a Forbes best of the web award. Lets see what happens.
--------------------------------------------
Pasted from Debka:

<< DEBKAfile?s military sources point out that the showdown between Syria and Israel began on March 12, when Israeli intelligence discovered that the large-scale terror strike on the Matsuba-Kabri highway in Galilee, in which 7 Israelis died, was masterminded by Syrian military intelligence fielding a combined Jibril-Hizballah-al Qaeda team.
Twelve days later, on March 24, a mysterious series of explosions destroyed Syria?s subterranean missile and chemical weapons installation in Homs. The facility produced Scud C and Scud D missiles, liquid and solid fuels, and was the largest factory in the Arab world for chemical warheads.
North Korean missiles experts were among the roughly 100 engineers and technicians killed in the blast
DEBKAfile ?s military sources report that Syria suspects an Israeli commando unit sabotaged the plant in revenge for the Galilee highway terror attack. Another theory is that it was the work of American special forces units based on a US Sixth Fleet Mediterranean carrier, carried out to punish Syrian president Bashar Assad for affording al Qaeda operatives free transit through Syria.
Whoever did the job, it struck a central nerve in Damascus. Syria is left facing a potential war minus the bulk of its missile stocks and without the fuel for launching the remainder. A key strategic resource has been wiped out.

well its interesting,

I can't say I'm sad a chemical weapons plant was destroyed,

but the loss of life is always tragic

Even the loss of lives that were building weapons of mass destruction? Those would cause the loss of many many more lives! It's like shooting a guy who is on his way to commit a murder. Would that bother you too?

If this story is indeed true, the Israelis have delivered a crippling blow to Syrias chances of mounting an offensive.

Blowing that place up was a very clever move...

ummm,

I was referring to any loss of life, calm down

just because something was tragic does not mean it wasn't justified. also, let me just state that I am pro-isreali, before I get flamed

You dont gotta say that you're pro-Israeli. You are entitled to your opinion no matter who you are "pro".
If you think it was justified, then I agree with you.

I think anyone actively involved in the making of weapons of mass destruction who were killed was justified. yes

but what is especially tragic are the ones who are just there as janitors or something like that, because you know not everybody killed knew what was really happening in the plant

Obviously, this assuming that this story is true. However, the janitors and such are who is referred to when one says that war id ugly. Innocents DO get killed.

israel = america's attack dog turned badass, the only thing greater than israel blowing up that plant is if America blew up the plant. Now that is systematic.

Will the people who blew up this plant in Syria please stand up and take a bow. I would like to shake your hands and say "Thank You".

You all deserve a raise and a bonus, as well as a two week all expenses paid vacation anyplace in the world you would like.

May many more weapons plants of mass destruction mysteriously blow up.

Couldn't have put it any better. Well said.

Why has no one touched on the real issue here. what was syria doing w/ chemical weapons plant. didn't the UN ban chemical weapons?

you wonder why some of us talk about "dirty arabs". well, guess what, they do it to themselves. assuming this is true of course. 🙂

Let's not delude ourselves into thinking that everyone complies with UN regulations. Hell, Sadaam didnt let inspectors in for how long? What do you think Brother Moumar Qaddafi has in his back pocket?

I understand this. I also understand that most of the Modern world claims to live under Rule of Law. if this is the case, we define good and evil based on our laws.

What I'm wondering is this: Why didn't the party responsible for doing this (if it's true), publicize this? What is there to lose?

Alleged BS. Syria has had many many accidents over the past decade.

LONDON ? An explosion has been reported at a leading Syrian weapons factory, killing 35 people.

The explosion was reported early last week in the northern Syrian city of Homs. Western diplomatic sources said a factory in a huge Syrian weapons complex exploded, killing many of the technicians in the building and causing widespread damage.

The sources said they did not know the cause of the blast. The Homs complex produces Scud C and D missiles as well as nonconventional weapons, according to Middle East Newsline.

Homs, with a population of about 500,000 people, is located 160 kilometers north of Damascus. The city has an oil refinery and is a major railroad junction.

The sources said the explosion took place either on March 24 or March 25. They said they did not know exactly what facility was destroyed.

"It could have been an explosion of a missile or something that took place during the production or testing of explosives," a Western intelligence source said. "We don't know and we might not know for a while."

U.S. intelligence sources said Syria maintains a missile test site 15 kilometers south of Homs. They said Syria has tested such missiles as the Scud C and Scud D as well as chemical warheads.

Syria also constructed missile factories in nearby Hama, about 110 kilometers north of Damascus. One factory is meant to produce solid-fuel missiles and the other is for liquid-fuel missiles. The solid-fuel missile is being developed with the help of Iran.

The Homs explosion is said to be the latest in a series of accidents that have taken place during Syria's missile and nonconventional weapons programs. In 1991, the Syrian Health Ministry closed down five pharmaceuticals plants, including one in Homs, during what Western intelligence agencies determined were tests of chemical weapons.

I agree. You can twist anything anyone said, any way you want to. Oh, and the devil's face appeared in the WTC smoke. Gimee a break.

I concur with the conclusion that it was a deliberate act and no mere "accident", now that being said, it appears the "war on terror" is escalating in some positive directions. It would be comforting to see more of these "accidents" occuring in Iraq/Iran as well. Don't mistake my sentiments, I lament the loss of lives but war is Hell and this IS war.
