I think it will be interesting just to see the Lakers with a point guard who doesn't play defense like a fvcking matador

I wonder how this affects Kidd's decision....

If he joins the western conference, he wont have the luxury of waiting for them to beat each other up in the playoffs before facing the last western conference team standing in the finals. But if his western conference team makes it, he'll have a distinct advantage over the east.

I don't think it will matter much. If Kidd wants any shot at the ring, he better join either the Mavs or the Spurs. If he stays in NJ, he may take the Nets to the finals again only to be beaten by any one of the elite Western teams. It's a no-brainer for Kidd. He should join the Spurs for the money and a shot at the championship.

Too bad Jermaine is re-signing with the Pacers. The Spurs need Zo and Kidd in order to have a shot at the Lakers (GP + Malone) next year.

It was all over the papers. He canceled a trip to Dallas iirc b/c the Pacers were close to offering something up. Zo really wants to stay in Miami who has yet to offer anything to him. I think he'd go to Dallas before SA though. Not sure about Kidd though, but it sounds like SA is the favorite as of now

I don't care much for the Lakers. I found it pathetic they lost in the playoffs early with that team and staff.

Just as long as the Spurs die a tragic death, I'm happy. Bunch of trash talking dicks .

of course the spurs wont pay him 17 mil a year ( i dont think he is worth nearly that much), but doesnt it suck to play on a team knowing you wont win the title?

To some, the money is more important. Plus he'd be the "star" of the team almost. At SA he'd be second/third rate at best

Breaking news on ESPN:

"Glove fits...and Lakers are it

Gary Payton has verbally agreed to join the Los Angeles Lakers for their mid-level exception, according to ESPN's David Aldridge. Payton reportedly will make between $4.6 and $4.9 million next year."

I don't usually watch much NBA but if Karl Malone follows and also goes to L.A., I'll be watching that Dream Team.

Dream Team isnt the word.... Doh for everyone else...

if you were a coach, would you start payton or fisher? that's a no-brainer...

The way I look at it right now is

PG= Payton
SG= Kobe
SF= George
PF= Malone
C= Shaq

I dislike the lakers but they should be fun to watch if this all falls into place....

Man, this is really gonna make the East look bad. I mean, they looked bad before, but now they'll look even worse!

it's a quick fix for winning and it helps them minimize their luxery tax.

there's also a few good looking free agents for 2004:
Steve Nash
Kevin Garnett
Desmond Mason
Kenyon Martin
Mike Miller
Kobe Bryant
