Sigh...great, just great. Now it's betwean nitwit no.1 and nitwit no.2. Might aswell flip a coin in order to pick who to vote for in the comming election now. Or *gasp* vote for a 3rd party candidate.

A 3rd Party Vote assures Bush stays in.

True, but I'm sick and tired of both parties. Guess it'll either be a "Screw both parties" year or a coin flip for me. Here's to 4 more years of the country being run by a nitwit. Cheers!

Donna and I are thinking of moving to Pennysylvania, if Bush stays in might just stay with friends in Canada for 4 years instead.

Hey dave - why not find a JOB to move for instead of moving because of your delusi...I mean your politics.;)

CkG

I would if there were any JOBS.

And you wonder why I(and others) bitch about people who whine about extending Unemployment handouts. It's because of attitudes like yours. You aren't looking if you don't think there are jobs available.

Not attitude, Fact. I've been doing the "Proper" and encouraged Networking of getting my Resume to as many Networked contacts as possible in may different fields too including Real Estate, Medical. There was a whopping 6 jobs listed in our local paper yesterday. Come here and show where the jobs are, you won't find them.

might need to try out side of your town ,,try about 350 tp 420 miles northeast of you

have you tried viewing online news papers like a charlotte or raleigh paper?

my brother had the same problem about 12 years ago ,,the company that he was working for down sized him out of a job. so he applied for jobs that paid 50 to 60 thousand less then what he was getting paid ,but people was scared to hire him because they thought just as soon as he found another job that he would leave them ,,well it took him 2 years but he finally got a job paying 60 thousand less then what he was earning before

well it took him awhile but he fianally made it back up to the 150 thousand that he was earning before

the motto of this story ,,is that you never know what a job will end up paying you once you get in it for a couple of years

i wish you luck :)

Are you effing kidding me Dave? you are out of work??? how long have you been out? and aren't you in IT?? are you even looking?? where do you live??....heck I moved into one of the most depressed IT sectors in the country at the height of the fallout (Moved from DC with a good full time Job at NASA with SAIC to Massachusetts with no prospects in Mar 2002 because of my wife's ambitions) and still managed to get a decent contractor gig in less than a month and a half....held onto it for a year, and now I am with a solid company, still as a contractor, but back at my old rate of pay with a much easier position supporting biotech...sure at first it was hard as I was only making about 38K but it was still better than unemployment and I was out doing something....

Are you just awful with IT? did that incident from before kill any chances? have you considered IT sales? Real Estate in this area is a great field to go into....

I just cannot fathom how anyone with initiative can be out of work for that long...there has to be something, heck I am proof positive that IT work can still be found by anyone who is determined enough...and heck I wasn't that determined.

the other site i post on just crashed and burned ,and now they are changing software and all past posts are lost ,,but there was a guy there that blamed bush for his inability to get a job ,,now i don't know how hard it is to get a job now because i retired early ,,because i could ,,but this guy was a real fanatic against bush ,,i mean he even tried helping the democrats in florida to beat out bush's brother ,which he also blames for his problems

now in all the years that i have worked i worked more then one job at a time ,,sometimes three jobs ,,and it did not have anything to do with who was president

the only time i would have thought it would have been rough ,would have been during hoover and the first years that FDR took over

I live 80 miles Northeast of Atlanta in the other Gainesville, most people immediately think Gainesville Florida but their is a Gainesville Georgia.

There is only a handful of Plants still left, they have all closed down as the jobs have gone to China. The largest Factory will be the third home of the local Walmart, it will be as large as the 4 Football field monster that just opened in La Quinta California. The biggest job market here is Mexicans processing chickens, Gainesville is the biggest Producer of Chickens in the world, there is even a Statue of a chicken near the downtown square.

Yes, out since July 1, 2002 when the "incident" hit causing my job at Cingular to go by way of the Dodo bird.

"did that incident from before kill any chances?" That's a good question, I don't know, I don't know what people are finding when they do a "background" check. Every Company is doing extensive checks now, which they should but I have no idea what that check says.

I am not alone here, many folks continue to lose their jobs and their houses here. The blood letting may have slowed in the rest of the Country but not here. Builders have been slashing the prices on homes as they can't fill these thousands of empty shells.

That is most likely the answer that this area is done.

Yup, looks like I'll be voting Nader this time around. What the hell were the democrats thinking? Were they even thinking or did they just go in there and vote whoever the polls on the nightly news said would win? *sigh*

I'm not really a huge fan of either style of primary ("rolling" vs. "same day"), but there's a school of thought that the "rolling" primary gives the long-shot candidate a fighting chance by allowing him/her to focus on the early states, hopefully do well if his/her message resonates w/ the people, and build momentum (and financial support) for the later rounds. The candidate with the most $$ usually wins anyway in the current system, but a national 'same day' primary system would favor the $$ candidate even more, as only he/she would have the $$ to set up networks/bases in all 50 states at the same time.

The problem I see with Daveo's situation is that unless he wants to work with mexicans and chickens he is really in the wrong place...I also don't think his "history" helps him....he would do very well to get out of there and move to a more prominant location..also consider a career move away from IT, heck I am in Biosystems support now after doing a year stint as a contractor with IBM and two years with the Space Agency and I see the market for my field shirinking, sure I could stick it out and make it with Biotech but in all honesty I have tired of computers and support, we have gone from being elites to techno plumbers in a very short time....

Dave, you said you were considering Philly?? you might want to rethink that and go Delaware...I almost moved there a little while ago when the missus scored a job with Dupont, she turned it down though (might have been a mistake) because I was not happy with the area...with Delaware cost of living is cheap, no tax, and you are inbetween Maryland and Philly as well as a few other places, DC is still good for tech as most working there are certificate fools who know nothing more than their two month training course told them....if you look presentable, can speak fluent english and know your basic wintel computer you can land a pretty decent govt contract job for about 50K+ at least...

You gotta get out of the sticks though, and really what were you thinking with a telecom gig?? that is like career suicide.

Don't blame me. Kerry was near the bottom of my list. We all voted for Edwards (had to change our registrations from Independent). My soon-to-be-19 son went too. He was for Dean, but they didn't have enough support, so he came over to the Edwards camp too (he's a delegate, to boot).

DM - as to why we do it this way, see Mursilis' post. The theory is that an all-at-once primary would be dominated by the DNC and RNC insiders since they would decide who gets money to campaign. The early contests in smaller states are designed to offer maximum exposure at moderate cost for all potential candidates so the "people" can decide who they want. This worked pretty well back when no one on the national level really cared much. Now that the early states have become such media circuses, their benefit has diminished.

Ah, converts -eh?;):p I thought you would have been part of "the storm" that turned into a trace of a flurry.
Anyway - I'm a delegate too. I get to spend this saturday at the Polk County Republican Convention. Should be an interesting time.
