Luckily, our President will rise to the occasion, as the highest office in our country appropriately demands, and unite the country with carefully crafted, inclusive and positive words of healing and redemption. A lesser man, some sort of amoral demagogue, would use this tragedy for narrow political gain. I thank my lucky stars we don't live in a banana republic where something that awful and disgusting could happen.

That's for people who want that. We used to have mental health facilities to care for those who could not function in society, but again Reagan ended all that. We now only have prisons, but those only come into play after the mentally ill commit a crime.

That's true but I don't think any of the current reporting has stated this guy was out of his mind in any observable way. He had a kid and a family and apparently had some work as a Bible school teacher. He was in the air force for years.

Reports are he was dishonorably discharged. According to the news, that means he should not have been able to purchase a gun. We all know that Texas loves gun shows and hates regulating guns... it sounds like Texas should've prevented this guy from buying a gun because of his dishonorable discharge, but didn't... perhaps because the gun was a straw purchase from a gun show.

What we need is gun control in this country. "Mental Health Reform" is just a byword for "do nothing and complain that people are crazy". There is no way to psychologically test the whole human population in the US... but we might be able to test gun owners before they buy guns. Doesn't that sound like a more reasonable objective than vague aspirations toward collective sanity?

Typically a heinous crime.

Some fat sheriff on MSNBC is claiming that all churches should have armed guards. I can agree with that. Probably would reduce attendance and make the whole world a better place.

Well it doesnt help when antifa publicly says to go after white conservatives attending church.

Strange how calls for gun control come from the same people professing the same ideology as the evil that perpetuates these mass killings.

Really? You are REALLY going to start this? There are 26 people dead and you're going to bitch about how Trump is going to handle it? As an administrator on this forum, I'd honestly expect better from you. Grow up.

Mod callout. You cannot bring up a member's mod title in your postings. It's against the rules.

What you mean like the poeple who got run over in New York by a truck? The problems remains.... unstable leftists. I have had a firearm in my house since i was 12. It never shot or threatened anyone.

Ratio of people killed by religious conservatives driving trucks through crowds to people killed by guns every year in the US is what?

BTW I hate to break it to you but all those "religious" groups (ISIS being one) that you are scared shitless of are religious conservatives.

You still don't know that was all fake? Like yesterday was supposed to be ANTIFA war against conservatives?

As we know because the perp is white he won't be labeled as an animal by Trump.

ISIS influenced Muslim kills 8 = animal

White guy kills almost 60 in Vegas, white guy kills 27 in Texas are just unfortunate tragedies

Huh... Turns out that a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with gun.

Unfortunately it's not before the bad guy has a chance to mow down a room full of children and adults.

NRA forgot to clarify that part.

Who gives a shit what you think? He's posting as a poster and that's his opinion.

I'm sorry we've long since skipped past the usual bull shit posts in these threads about thoughts and prayers.

You're an administrator on this fourm?

I wish there was an easy solution for this, or even a coherent one I could support. I'm so sick of reading these stories. A truck, a gun, a bomb, what the hell are we supposed to do?

We really need to start focusing on local issues in my opinion. Ranting and raving about distant national politics or problems seems to keep our focus away from the problems at our doorstep.

If that sarcasm were any dryer they could film the next Dune movie on it.😉

Yeah, any sane-appearing person can just go off. Also I didn't mean to imply that our better, previous history of mental healthcare would've stopped this guy.

Yes! But I'm not optimistic for that outcome.

Glad you are so concerned about the victims of gun violence in Chicago.... oh wait you are not since you dont give two shits about those people...only the victims that fit your narrative.

I bet the blood was even dry before Hillary was tweeting about gun control. Even though in a recent attack in Nice, France saw more poeple killed and just as many injured that the Las Vegas shooting in about 1/2 the time using a truck as a weapon.

"Too soon" bullshit right on time.

Actually, WHAT is wrong with you? Of course it matters how the Orange Douche responds. He has made himself a voice and a target for most significant and depth of decency topic breathing down the necks of Americans. Even if that weren't true, the president of the United States should be a source of comfort in tragic times. A uniting force. The fact that he isn't is igniting BOTH sides. When the hell do you think it should be discussed? Trump is failing America in every way. If you want to police how conversation is created start with Trump... The first example who will ONLY set a poor example. He is disgusting especially when he attempts to mimic a decent person.

Guns are a problem at our doorstep.
