Had a Firefox tweak guide posted on my site, leaving the source to the original page on each section. Didn't even think about copyright, until I got an e-mail from the author. ^^;

My name is Koroush Ghazi and I am the author of the Firefox Tweak
Guide you have plaguarized on your site.

You have 48 hours to remove this content, you DO NOT have permission

I think we should report you on his behalf.... Not exactly homework, really, but what's the difference? It's still plagiarism, right?

Not plagiarism at all, I didn't claim it was my own, I left a link to his page on each of mine. And second, he already knows I used it, hence the e-mail. Did you drop out of school or something?

STFU, it's a freakin' off topic forum, what do you expect.

LoKe: I have someone stealing content from my website, so I think you're making the right move. Unfortunately, in my case, the guy is in Korea, so there isn't much I can do to him, he doesn't even have a published address and is hosted, so I can't do a domain lookup.

Missed the point, huh? Or are you just a little defensive?

I wouldn't even fight it if I could, I mean no harm. This was my dull reply.

I had left a source hoping that it would satisfy you. I had no intentions of doing your site any harm, knowing that this guide and your site are very popular. I had just hoped to host it in another place to share it with more people, since it supports an open source browser which we all love.

Obviously you don't agree with what I've done, so I'll comply and remove the guide from my website.

It's a shame, though.

So, are you trying to throw a fit that the author of the original material wants you to take the copyrighted material off of your website?

Pretty weak rant, in my opinion.

Are you retarded?

1. The author knows I'm using the content, asked me to take it down.
2. I took it down.
3. I can photoshop whatever the hell I want.

Send it to him if you want, it'll be fun in the end.

not true. that photo is copyrighted as well since it is part of his site, and legally he owns it, meaning you must credit him, and ask for his permission to use any part of that photo, or his site.

I fail to understand how you so cluelessly think that MIKEMIKE's "karma" is being affected, when you should instead think of it in terms that the OP got nailed for hosting copyrighted material; then the OP comes here to talk about. If MIKEMIKE does follow through one could indeed say karma is at play, but it is not quite the way you think it is.

If you took it word for word, then yeah, that's a problem. But any of that information is hardly copyrightable by him. So if you reword what's on your page, screw him.

Why would you copy the entire guide instead of just linking to it? Considering that he's using Google ads, it seems to me that you were basically robbing him of potential income.
