I didnt watch it but damn that sucks.

I know I didint watch it but having two good players not be able to play must have hurt them a lot.

Maybe if the Americans didn't get all fat from eating McDonalds all day long they'd do better.

Um...none of the players on the team looks even remotely fat to me.

America's best athletes play football, baseball and basketball or some other sport. Soccer just isn't big here. McDonald's has nothing to do with it.

Yes, clearly the United States is just FULL of unathlethic people:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_olympics#Medal_count_table <--- holy hell we had nearly twice as many medals as any other country!
I guess all of those Big Macs help us in every sport except soccer/football.

So what country are you from, saymyname?

Soccer just isn't fun to watch, unless it's the World Cup. Watching a game for a couple hours that ends 1-0, or a "high score" game of 3-1 just doesn't inspire interest. Football is continuous action, which is why it's the most popular sport here.

ermmm. football is not always continuous, whereas soccer really is continuous. true, the scores in football are higher, but if you award a point per TD, a score of 3-1 (21-7) is realistic.

Uh... when you say football you must be referring to australian football or rugby? American football is hardly "continuous action". Pretty much the opposite of it, in fact. It's the most popular sport because of fantasy football, gambling, and to a much lesser degree, the short seasons.

The only sport I can think of that is truly continuous action is the one I like the least, nascar...

This pathetic WC performance will probably set US soccer back at least a decade. Nothing quite like being over-hyped then being turned into a laughing stock.

i doubt that in 1998 we came in dead last, 32nd out 32 teams, but we made the quarterfinals the next world cup...we shall see in 4 years

Japan is playing now, I was hoping they would win, they're losing right now.

I watch games played by - Brazil, Argentina, England, Netherlands, France and Japan. I watch France and Japan only because I can curse them to death though.
Now if Canada (lol) or China gets in WC again, I'll cheer for them like there's no tomorrow.

haha good point. I really love American Football too. But anyways, both have their strengths. plus, soccer = just one long commercial break 😛
