we were not outplayed by ghana... we got screwed over by another worthless referee.

If the pen had not been given it would be 1-1 and the US would go out with 2 points. Same result in the end.

some bad decisions there and in the Italy game - but the one thing the US team seem to lack is a real goal threat

Bruce Arena should be fired. Does he even know who's on his team? Where's the desperation? Our d-line is too slow and our guys can't even pass to each other cleanly. He forgot to run passing drills.

Don't go putting the blame on any one person. Everyone fscked it up at some point. I completely agree with the ESPN talking heads: no urgency, only complacency.

But the refs did totally suck. I saw a total of one game where the ref wasn't a good-for-nothing; I think it was the one from the England-Sweden game.

even if you take away that penalty kick. the US didn't seem to play with any sense of urgency the whole game. It was oh say the last 10 minutes when they decide to kick it up a notch. I dare say they played passively.

If you're gonna go down, you go down trying. I wouldn't have any issues if the US ran more guys at the goal and ended up getting beat on a counter attack.

It also looked to me they kept trying one too many sets.

What is a good side?

Argentina, Brazil, Holland, Portugal, Spain are all pretty good. Most of the European countries and South American countries will give anyone a decent game.

Countries such as Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroon all have good sides as well.

This is why the US "Soccer" doesn't get lots of support because we suck..
We would need to win the whole thing to get more support.

I hope Mexico goes out soon.

You can tell who's good just by how they move the ball....All these good teams have great chemistry; they can move the ball through the midfield; they have the skills to stop balls on a dime. All these things, the US lacks. Basically, our offense is trying to head the ball from lobs and crosses. Our players rarely makes runs and play the through the ball. It's rather poor and disgusting to watch. Bruce Arena should be fired. I feel that he's too loyal to the well known players on our team. We need someone new, preferably someone foreign, so that our players can get a fresh evaluation. Some of our players didn't belong on the pitch. Hell, we scored a goal right after Reyna left.

a foreign coach would be interesting - I'd like to see what Guus Hiddink, Fabio Capello or
'Big' Phil Scolari could do with the team. What's Bruce Arena's background?

I don't see the US play much but I get the impression they're a well drilled, physically fit side which mainly lacks experience and tactics to go to the next level.

Surely there are some decent up and coming players to be blooded before the next World Cup - we keep hearing about Adu but are there any more?

US was just totally overhyped this year. Sure they had a few bad calls against them but the team isn't without their own faults. I only caught the last 20 minutes of the game but I must say that was some pretty pathetic effort by the US. I remember the media saying the man to watch for is Donovan. Yea, I'll watch him pass up a decent shot to kick a half a$$ pass to screw up that attack. 4 years and this is all they could do?

we definitely need to get a foreign coach in there. no MLS coach is going to take this team any higher.

Sven is available in a few weeks (or maybe sooner 🙁 )
