CompUSA has it for 899.99 Price expires sometime today 3/2 or next friday 3/8 (not sure)

Go to Best Buy or Circuit City and price match CompUSA. Then they have $200 in rebates so 899.99 - 200.00 = 699.99. Hot or what?

Toshiba notebooks price for this laptop is $999.99 as well. I am quite sure that CC and BB will both sell it for the same price plus the rebates.

ie this is for people with no CompUSA store near by. You might benefit from buying the laptop online to get an international warranty. Or for those that are more than happy the BB warranty is also available. Not a bad laptop. The only thing I dislike about Toshiba laptops is the plastic cases they use.

The chick was new and made a mistake though... she gave me a brand new receipt as if I bought it today... so if the price drops again I will be able to PM again... hehe

Toshiba laptops are alright for their price. People complain about their graphic chipset though. I don't know the details.

Hi,

Does anyone know (for sure) if Best Buy and Circuit City will pricematch based on a printout from a website like this? I looked at the policies on their websites, and they seem to refer to "advertised" items (i.e., pricematch against an item in a PRINTED ad)?

Also, Best Buy's website says that this item is not available for pickup.

Doesn't that mean that the stores are not carrying this particular laptop anyway?

Thanks, Jim:eek:

Hey, Finality, what was that about buying online for an international warranty? Anyone know about getting an international warranty for laptops? That would be a hot deal. Thanks.

I don't know about that, because both Best Buy and Circuit City have on their website that they don't pricematch online competitors. Your best bet is to get a CompUSA ad and show it too them or say that CompUSA has it for 999.99 and that they can call to verify the price. If you don't have it, or cannot do it, I could buy it for you. PM me, because this is a sweet deal and I'd hate for people to miss it. Thanks , Mary

ShynnSw33tx,

I *really* appreciate the offer, but let me tell you what ended up happening (all GOOD :)!).

I drove around to Best Buy, which didn't carry it (as I thought, since their website says not available for pickup), then I figured I'd try Circuit City.

I walked in, and there, sitting on the shelf, was the 1005-S157, and, guess what? The shelf tag said:

$999.90
-$200.00 rebates
-----------
$799.00 total AR

In other words, the CC B&M was selling it for $999, not the $1099 on their website. This store is in Fairfax, VA, BTW, in case anybody is wondering.

It took me a (LONG) while to grab a sales guy, and he looked it up, and they had them in stock, so, quick like a bunny, I bought one!

I just got back, and it's sitting here in my library.

COOL :)!

Again, thanks for your very generous offer!

Jim

Went in and got the $100.00 plus tax adjust on the lappy today. So i got this unit for $750 after price adjust and rebates! It works great and plays DVDs good too. Slammed a 10/100 cardbus in it and the wife loves it. (I bought it for her). I don't know how you can go wrong for this price.

So what about your receipt, did they do it so that it would look at though you had just bought it, because over in the hot deals forum... rumor is this weekend the same lappy may be going for $899 but I don't know if it is going to be before or after the rebate for that price. Its a one day only aniversary sale or sumthing.

They didn't change the receipt, they gave me an additional one showing a store credit which just went back into my debit card. I bought it on the 16th, so I was inside 14 days. Depending on when the sale starts, I wonder if I could get one of the freebies too. ;)
