A celery processor with only 8MB of video RAM. No wonder it's only 8 bills. Pay the extra cash and get a Duron/Athlon or PIII. Intel should have retired this CPU 2 years ago.

ShynnSw33tx,

According to Neo's earlier post on the other thread the $899 price for the:

"Toshiba laptop is after $100 MMIR"

Now, I am *so* confused :)!!!

Is it $899 AR, or $899 before the $100 rebate?

Jim

I don't know I guess we are going to have to see. But it would be weird to have the sale of 899 after rebate again wouldn't it?

ShynnSw33tx,

What I *think* it is, is as follows:

Toshiba laptop: $999
Toshiba rebate: -$100
====
$899 AR, plus you pick one of the freebies (e.g., the 17" CRT)

Remember, the CC and BB $100 rebates, which brought the laptop AR price down to $799 ($999 - CC/BB rebate - Toshiba rebate) are ending on 3/2/02, so if the freebies are all worth $100 or less, then the 'anniversary' deal is almost the same as the CC/BB deal that ends on 3/2.

Did I totally confuse you (and myself) yet :)?

<< Went in and got the $100.00 plus tax adjust on the lappy today. So i got this unit for $750 after price adjust and rebates! It works great and plays DVDs good too. Slammed a 10/100 cardbus in it and the wife loves it. (I bought it for her). I don't know how you can go wrong for this price. >>

Update, I bought this lappy on the 16th, so tomorrow I can go price adjust at $899.97, making my final cost after MIR only $650.00 !! :D

edit...3-2-02
Succesfully got another $100 plus tax back today. One interesting thing is the CompUSA geek said as I just got a new receipt showing the adjusted total that I now have another 14 days to price match. Heres hoping for more price drops.

LOL just checked and it is at $899... so we ALL got it for $649.99 ..... DAMN that is a sweet price for it. And so that would be... $719.74 total (with tax included) Thats sweet for a 1 ghz notebook

How can CC can match the price when the website says it is 799 after rebate. The B&M price is 899 after 100 instant and 100 mail in. So the actual in store buying price is 999 which matches the in store price of CC. Can I use thier website price to so CC can match it ?

Tell them (Circuit City) to Price Match CompUSA the store, twho have it for 899. That way it will be 899 - 200 (of rebates) = 699. Do you have a CompUSA near you?

Hey well there is another possibility. Because CC said that they can't PM because AR it is at the same price, go to OD and price match, since they have the lappy also, but at a higher price, and they also have $200 in rebates. let me know how it goes, or if this is too confusing.

OK, this is what I'm doing with this. Bought it yesterday at CC for 999.99 + tax. CompUSA shows it on their Website for $899.99 I bought it with AmEx Blue so I'll pricematch the CompUSA site and save $100. There are also the two $100 rebates. This should bring the total to 699.99 + tax after rebates and pricematch.

Now as far as the quality. It is what I expect for a sub $1000 notebook. Will it run the new killer games? Probably not. Can I surf the web, write papers, work on code for school, or watch DVD's while travelling? Absolutely.

I've seen better displays and the construction leaves a lot to be desired. But the celeron + 256mb ram run fine for me. This is my first notebook and I'd rather buy a Dell or IBM with Pentium but I also was not ready to spend another $700 - $1000.

So yes, this was a pretty hot deal if you had < $1000 to spend, or in my case < $700 + tax.
