I found this book so intriguing. The differences on how many and womens brains work and how they actually physically are different. A womans Corpus Collosum is thicker than a mans and they explain that this may be why woman have the ability to multi task much better than men, such as talking on a phone and typing on a computer at the same time. Once more they explore the lesbian and gay theories. They show a CAT scan of a normal womans brain and that of a mans brain. Then they show one of a gay man. He has the brain of a womans brain. If you did not know he was a man and just saw the CAT scan alone you would think as a doctor that you were dealing with a woman. This is just fascinating! Here is the link if any one is interested in reading or would like to purchase this book for further exploration. I always say knowledge is power. They more you know the better off you are in the long run. BRAIN SEX LINK

Hugs,
Val

Yea, it is an old book, but everytime I read it, it reminds me how little I know and also reminds me not to judge people.

there was a show about this on the Discovery Channel a while ago. It is very interesting to me.
I also think it is very interesting in the way transgender peoples brains are as well... the show was pretty scientific about it all.

What I found interesting in the book was that some men have physical female characterists that are shaped in the brain at birth, but that does not neccessarily make them gay. And the same for women. Some women have certain male characteristics that are very pronounced yet they are not gay. These women have been tested and it was found that their abstract thinking was very high much like a male. They were more prone to be problem solvers like males. Yet, they were very female, and had the female drive and desire of a woman and preferred men.

There is just so much that we are now begining to untap about the brain and how it works. The notions, and misconceptions people have about gays, and their behavior are begining to be blown out of the water as more researched evidence comes to light.

so by your logic, physical evidence that males have penises would just be more "i was born male" propaganda right?

dispute the evidence at hand, don't resort to one liners that are meaningless.

Through my experience, a person raised in a different household, and a different environment as a whole will probably act very differently. I don't think all of this is rock solid since birth. An only girl in a family of men won't be as girly, won't seem to think much different than a man on some things, because of her upbringing. Would this mean a persons experiences physically changes their brain, or does it mean the brain is physically no different, just behavior?

As for something else mentioned in this thread, I don't think one is normally if ever really born gay or straight. I think it's all environmental and decided subconsciously by the individual. Remember: It's subconscious and based on many facotrs, which means you don't KNOW if you decided or not.

Here's my take and neither is better than the other:
Men Think then Feel
Women Feel then Think

If it's subconcious/conscious, what about the statistical difference in ring finger length?

Well, too much for me to type and explain here. You would have to buy and read the book. It does show some very conclusive scientific evidence. People that are born with malformations while in utero, it seems to me that it would also apply as well to the brain.

If you close your mind off to the subject and do not want to learn about the findings then you choose not to grow and learn in my opinion. There is so much to learn and its out there. It is your choice to go through life, or GROW through life.

I saw that show, and it was amazing. They took mice's brains apart (a little disgusting, but it looked like little strips of ginger) and examined them under a microscope. There were clearly differences between the heterosexual male mice's brains and the homosexual male mice's brains.

Does anyone know what that program was called? I'd like to force my dad to watch that. He can't stand gays or lesbians and gets mad when you try to talk to him about it. This is the kind of - in my mind anyway - indesputable proof that it's something dtermined from birth, not something you choose later on in life.

cool stuff

its amazing what we are learning about the human brain. and its maybe even more amazing how much more there is to understand....

my favorite brain discovery is the "god zone". hopefully we can breed that one out in a few generations

Well they talked about when you do a CAT scan of a womans brain and a mans brain the womans brain is very distinctly different. Smaller, large Corpus Collosum and some other traits. They also said that if the doctors were to have never see these patients not knowing what their gender was and they scanned their brains they could tell who was female and male just by looking at the brain and the activity. But when you put a gay male or female under the CAT scan it threw them off because the brain was identical to the opposite sex of the body the were inhabiting. So this leads me to think that while they were forming at birth some kind of malformation occurred. I mean if it happens with body parts and limbs and people are born autistic and such, why would this be any different?

Are you some sort of retarded politically correct apologist or do you really think that people one day just decide that innies are sexier than outies?

In my mind, it's really simple: WHY WOULD ANYONE CHOOSE TO BE GAY??? I mean, if someone is bisexual, I can see where you would say that they "chose" that. From the outside, it just looks like someone is willing to get sex anywhere and with anyone. But CHOOSING TO BE GAY? Are you insane? First off, EVERYONE tells you that liking women is normal, so outside of extenuating circumstances (sexual abuse, certain family situations, etc.), the natural choice would be to like women. Secondly, you KNOW that you're out of the norm and that people will ridicule you. Why would you choose that?

So, to your argument, I simply ask, why - if it IS a choice - would someone choose to be gay?
