The Hot Deals forum needs to be cleaned up. Too many posts that are not Hot Deals, and I'm not talking about not hot to one person but hot to others. I'm talking about threads without a "deal" just plain talking about rebates, if a company is bankrupt, new products, etc. There are other forums at anandtech for these threads, Off-Topic and General Hardware to name two specifically. If it's not a Hot Deal it shouldn't be posted in Hot Deals. This forum would be easier to get through without all the crap threads.

I bought a Soyo 64mb CigarPro USB flash drive that had a $35 rebate from Fry's during day after Christmas rebates. unfortunately I don't have any of the materials photocopied. I was on vacation that week and just mailed out the materials on the last day. well I find out Soyo has decided to no longer use CPG as their rebate center and has decided to do rebates internally. I had my $35 rebate on the rebatestatus.com site shown as valid a few months ago and it was pulled from the site earlier last month. Dave in Soyo customer service won't release my rebate even though I have email from CPG showing my rebate is valid. They want a freakin' receipt or some other proof. Like the rebate center's email isn't good enough for them. So I have to wait for the database with my information to be transferred from CPG. They say the database will be there soon but WHO KNOWS if that is true..then they have to import it into their database. COULD TAKE WEEKS. this sucks...almost unemployed and I can't get $35 from Soyo..I'm thinking about going down to their Fremont HQ and giving them a piece of my mind. :disgust:
 
Don't know why this worked but....
I found a coupon in anandtech forums for $30 off reg price of $59.99 at office max (friends and family sale)
Noticed that it was $20.00 instant rebate in the paper.
Didn't think it'd work but she took the coupon after the IR ringing up for $9.99 +tax
This is one I had to make my wife go in to get another one (one per customer).

I got a link for the coupon in the hot deals forum... searched for "office max" looked for friends and family. The link is dead now as the coupon was only good for 04/26/03 (Saturday). Only wish I would have known earlier about the -$20 IR and the -$30 F&F coupon, could have made a post.
 
Lol. Newegg sent me the wrong model of the Philips 202p4 22" monitor- they sent me the black/silver one which goes for ~$20 more. Nice 😛

Very nice, i hope that last a long time for you, because what don't last long, is basically useless in the long run. Heh, if you could score another 120gigger for 50 bucks, theres really no need for warranty, is their? too bad, i haven't got any deal like this, too much work, too much hassle. I'm really lazy 🙂

brag - Score a total of 8 WD 120 GB SE drives from Circult City this week. They were 110% price match to bestbuys $79.00 price, so i paid $69.00 for them. Each drive has a $100.00 mail in rebate. so I will be making $26.00 per drive after tax.

2 going to my two ReplayTVs
4 going into my web server to replace the old 80s i have in there
1 for wifes new Dell 4550 P4-2.53 that was $302 after rebate
and 1 for emergencies

I bought 5 of the Dell 2350/1800fp/Zire combos, sold them all on ebay but kept one LCD. I was still able to make over $100 when all was said and done (inc all fees etc) plus a free LCD.

Did anyone do better?

Last friday, i got my $60 check from XM radio. They had this promo last Dec. '02, when you subscribe, you'll get a 60 bux rebate aside from using a $50 coupon (each for tuner, car and home kit) and a free month of subscription and $15 sign up fee. A $235 savings!😀🙂
 
A few weeks back OfficeMax had the HP 300i DVD burner on sale for one day $149.99 (normally $299.99). The lady let me get a rain check an ordered one transferred from another store. It just came in today, and after buying it for $149.99 I notice there's a gift card rebate for $60.00 this week.

So after the gift card, the drive cost me $100.24 including tax.
 
What's the cheapest price someone has purchased a 10GB iPod for (old version)?
