5-0, got placed Plat, so this should be interesting. Will start up the stream again in a few.

The skill pool is noticeably watered down after the GameStoppers came in ;)

Also, interesting bug. My bonus pool was 631 after being placed.

Basically rested XP, if you have ever played WoW. You accumulate it over time (theoretically, lol) and it gives you up to double points when you win games.

Is b.net back up? I'm not sure because I've been in the process of recovering my bnet account all week and my password has reset every other day. So not sure if I'm locked out again or if bnet is still down...

Sweet, took my first two placement matches. Better than yesterday x100! I guess there's a lot of juicy n00bs out and about right now. Hehe. 4 cannon's clustered in front of your Nexus but none guarding the mineral line?! Woohoo!

good god i suck. finally got my key and got obliterated by a bunch of terran warships. I haven't played a RTS since WC2 (and even then I only played against the CPU and cheated). I will probably be in whatever the D-league is.

must be the influx of new people because I'm now 3-1 in placement games so far and they have been in bronze for the most part, the 1 loss was to a platinum guy.

When you first sign up and you can pick new, experienced, or veteran...does that mean anything?

I picked experience the first 2 times, this time I picked veteran(not sure why, lol)

EDIT: ended up 3-2 with losses to a platinum and a gold, put me in silver.

man yesterday playing a 2v2 with my gf. Us TP vs PP. the opposing platinum guy called me a trashy player. lol, I'm not sure what to make of that. Is he saying I'm a good player? or a bad player?

Playing terran, I went old school sc1 build of vultures/helions harass. raped both of their zealots. Then teched to banshee while still pumping helions. So essentially I was harassing his minerals and taking out his zealots and now stalkers. then it all went downhill when they attack my ally and killed her base.

I am platinum, gf copper, both opposing enemy were platinum. lol, o well, still got chart.

Upon playing for a while, I been thinking... how exactly can protoss counter mass Hydra and Muta against Zerg? I had a bunch of phoenix and voidray ans they still got rip to piece by mass muta.

Mass stalkers and Sentries; throw in a Colossus or two and zealots.

Make solid ground troops like stalkers which can take and deal some damage, and support them with Protoss' brilliant support units. Psi storm and guardian shield own both muta and hydra. You could use colossi if the emphasis is on hydra not muta. You should be trying to force the fights into small spaces so psi is maximally effective. Don't let the hydras surround you.

Phoenixes are good vs muta in small numbers but I'm not so sure about mass. Don't overinvest in air-to-air since the zerg can stop making air.

A void ray is just about the last thing you should be building vs any low-hp units which shoot air.

void rays are only good against buildings and bc/carriers, anything else and they are a waste of a unit resource wise. Motherships are useful to cut the enemies forces in half while you kill the other half.

Hey guys, another request from meeee ! This time not for me. I'm not sure if theres a Beta technical advice thread or not but my buddy is having a problem. His patcher is downloading the 10 patch but it keeps getting stuck in an infinite loop, it just keeps downloading and saving it into a folder on his desktop that has all his patches and mods along with his battle.net, logs, support stuff like that. But he has a folder I don't thats called Updates that full of text files and crap. Also when he downloads them they save as bit torrent files. This sounds like pure madness to me. If anyone has literally anything to help out. I would love you.

P.S Un-installing + Re-installing is a no go ! Also sorry for interrupting your strat talk

Just had by far my most satisfying win. Best protoss that I've beaten yet. Got ghosts early on top of MMM, so much fun with EMP, was able to take him out before he got templars. He wasn't great, but lower level platinum (where I am). Most of the time his sentries were out of energy before they could even shield.

Don't get me wrong though, it was still pretty darn close. He out macro'd me, but I very much out micro'd him.

Tobler, try having him stop the patcher, then go to Program Files/Starcract II Beta/Support and run SC2Switcher to launch the game.

Man, there's a huge difference in skill in each league. And I played a guy that had to quit because his wife wanted to play haha. The joys of being married.
