Origin/EA store downloads don't expire. I have a a couple 4 year old games on there that I can still download.

I never go to EA.com or any of their other sites, never used Origin, never bought anything from the EA site or their service, and never, ever will. If Activision had a similar service I would say the same thing about them.

Fuck both companies.

EA is just doing what MS has tried to do in the past making half-hearted attempts to create their own distribution system. MS produces all kinds of crap, but really the only things they do well are os, office programs, and the xbox. I see no more reason to actually boycott Origin then I do to boycott MS games-for-window-marketplace. They're both so lame it doesn't really make any difference. You can fight them, but what's the point when they are their own worst enemy?

i can't really see much difference between Origin and Steam - they are both DRM disguised as services for gamers.
- The difference is of course - one is evil EA and the other one (Saint Steam) has better PR (and the fanboys to defend it).

When's the last time Valve rushed a game? Plus Valve supports their SDK, offers things for free, more etc. etc.

EA has a reputation for forcing games out the door too early when they have major obvious issues. They're also known for withholding DLC and patches from the PC gaming community. The PC version of their games are usually nothing more than sloppy ports; completely unlike valve.

I'll use Origin when I get the physical Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3, so I can download and play it without the disc, and maybe if I ever get The Old Republic since it's an Origin exclusive download. Otherwise I won't use it.

I still can't find any info on this. I'm pretty sure the digital version is the "Origin exclusive," but you can always just buy a physical copy that has NOTHING to do with origin.

Maybe, maybe not, but I do worry that Steam has such a huge piece of the digital download market. I love their sales, but they could do something really bad and it would be hard to stop them.

And I have had issues with their customer service not getting back to me for days and then giving me an irrelevant answer that made it seem like they didnt even read my E-mail about the problem.

I like steam but that statement is inaccurate. l4d was rushed.
