Give me a break. If you're gonna be fair, compare the '04 Sienna to the '04 Odyssey. The '04 Odyseey thoroughly trounces the Odyssey on ride/features/value.

As for performance, the '04 Sienna, '04 Odyssey and '04 are all the same speed 0-60 (7.9 seconds) and through the quarter mile.

Go ride in an '04 Sienna (I have) before spouting off nonsense;)

As for trannies, the '04 Sienna uses a 5-speed auto. HONDA is the one that had to recally Odyssey/Accord/CL trannies a while back;)

I'm comparing the 04 Sienna to the 04 Odyssey. The Car and Driver drive test even said the 04 ody beat the 04 Sienna by a full car length.

Motor Trend says they all do 7.9 seconds. Not that it matters. I don't know many soccermoms flooring it from a stop. But where it matters (people hauling ability, features, ammenities, ride/handling), the '04 Sienna tops all.

Not to mention it offers:

AWD
Parking Sense (front and rear)
adaptive cruise control (keeps a set distance)
Power liftgate
Roll down side windows
Backup cam (with GPS option)

It also offers a host of other features that teh Odyssey can't touch.

BOTTOM LINE. Toyota snagged all of the best features from all the other minivans to make the UBER mom-mobile. You just can't touch it ;)

You're bragging about how fast and nimble your minivan is, claiming we should bow down to it?

Edmund's picked both the new Sienna and Quest over the Odyssey as their top choices for 2004 minivans. I'm sure the next Odyssey has some tricks up its sleeve, though.

Yep, every major publication has declared the new Sienna as top dog. I'm sure that Honda will fight back pretty hard though with the redesigned Odyssey. The bar has been raised substantially.

are you SURE you mean roll down side mirrors? i think you mean roll down side windows in the back. i can't see why anyone would want a roll down side mirror.

but if this is something new and there are real benefits to roll down side mirrors. i don't know about it.

also, Rossman and others, you know of course that this is really the first minivan that toyota really got right, the previous sienna was pretty good but it was really a bit small for a true minivan.

Honda too, the previous ody was HIDEOUS.

Both the Previa and Odyssey both handle like a whale. Don't believe me? Try parking parallel...

Get a Mazda MPV and drive something much more nimble(for a minivan).

it's a minivan for christ's sake, what's the difference between 8 seconds and 10 seconds, are you gonna go pick up chicks, traffic drugs, engage in hot pursuits in a fvcking minivan? gawd, it's just like those stupid truck races, its purpose is to haul ass, not to go fast, if you want speed get a coupe.

So pretty much, what you guys are saying is, you would definitely take a Toyota Sienna over a Ferrari F50.

WTF, quit arguing about minivans.

I think we've reached a point where the 04 Odyssey and the 04 Sienna are both damn good minivans. The difference between the two is negligble. You can't go wrong with either choice.

Only reason I prefer the Odyssey is due to its exterior styling.

I beg to differ on that. The Odyssey has been on the market since '99. The Sienna was designed with enhancements taking feature ques from the:

Windstar
Caravan
MPV
Odyssey

While performance between the two is similar, feature wise and content wise, the Sienna simply blows the Odyssey out of the water. AWD? Nowhere to be found on the Odyssey. Sability control, laser cruise control, etc, etc. And have you sat in the XLE?? My goodness, I was in an XLE Limited and it was like sitting in the Lexus. Makes the Odyssey look spartan in comparison. Given all its features, the Sienna is the true anti-SUV for soccermoms.

Also, the Sienna can undercut the Odyssey by quite a bit with the base CE model which can be had for ~$24,000.
