And so far its worked! Yesterday I just wasn't willing to take one more dip, so I went and bought one of these electron based gizmos. Uncomfortable for the first few hours (because I wanted to dip) but now I'm cool and think I'll make it on the e-cig. Using 24mg watermelon and its smooth and tasty.

Much healthier, if you want to try and reduce your nicotine dependency at some point you can slowly start lowering the nicotine in your juice. Even if you don't lower the nicotine intake, it is still much healthier than dipping or smoking a cig.
Congrats and hope it works out for you in the long term.

It's definitely a good cessation tool. You should do a little research on the liquid stuff you buy though. Because there isn't any regulation, not every company is putting in what they say they are (or aren't)

How is it on your lungs? Several years ago I quit smoking for snus because couldn't tolerate a reduced lung capacity.

You can't quote me on this, but I believe they are better. You aren't burning tobacco with one, just heating up vapor and inhaling that. That alone should make it better. I can't comment on what chemicals are in the juice though.

I have been actually thinking about picking one of these up. No idea which ones are good.

Have been using on and off for more than a year, switched to 100% e-cig couple of months back and I am good. I was not a heavy smoker, or just one or 2 during work days only, more of a socializing thing... I used to be a heavy smoker, 1 - 1.5 packs a day but cut down heavily about 10 years ago, went 2 years without anything, but then started again slowly and that's when I bought e-cig. I was not a nicotine addict, just wanted to blow some smoke.

I am using joyetech 16mg, light vanilla flavor

Ehh, Tried the Ecig thing, not a fan ...
I instead quit cigs and went 100% only cigar or pipe. I'm sure my tongue and gum cancer risks are very high, but, lungs are a lot better off, and I enjoy the taste of actual tobaccos....

There's a "vape bar" down the street from me. I keep meaning to go down there and try it out. But after quitting smoking I feel dirty walking into one of those places.

I'm currently using 20mg snus. I really like the big nicotine hit I just need to find a "less unhealthy" delivery mechanism. A pity they don't make nicotine pills like they do with caffeine.

Did you get something shitty and cheap sold at the mall/gas station? Most people get really crappy e-cigs, say they suck (which they usually do) and assume all ecigs suck and then go back to smoking or whatever.

If you actually research it and invest a small sum ($75-150) you can get yourself a very nice vape that will give nice amounts of smoke.

But most people just don't have the patience to actually research stuff before they buy it.

Well, it is better. The list of crap in a regular cigarette is quite long, but even the most basic part, you're not taking in carbon monoxide by using an e-cig, which definitely improves how much oxygen you're getting.

Make sure you always remember that this is a cessation tool and that this doesnt become a new way to get nicotine. I wanted to quit smoking cigarettes and figured that if I make it inconvenient to smoke, that would help me out. You know the routine, you are driving, walking, hanging out. Reach for the pack and a cigarette is instantly there. I took up hand rolling my cigs with loose tobacco, papers and filters. It worked great actually because you cant just grab a cig, you need to manufacture one first and have a small kit with you. One day I caught myself pre-rolling a few cigs for a long car ride somewhere and realized that I was defeating the purpose of going over to hand rolled cigarettes. I don't smoke anymore, maybe a pipe 2-3 a week but thats it.

That not very smart. It can be a great replacement for smoking, it doesn't need to be your road to quitting, it can be you just want to be healthier while still getting nicotine. Which an ecig is perfect for.

That's a really good starter unit, especially if it can detect the resistance on the atomizer (they are often off by up to 10% so measuring matters) so you can dial in the voltage.

Same as not smoking as far as I can tell, I'm sure it's not quite the same but it's not noticeable.

<-- previous smoker, been on e-cigs for a while.

As far as the liquid goes you have several options. 1: find a local place that mixes it and inspect their work area. 2: reputable online vendor. 3: make your own.

It's really simple to make, so as long as they are using the correct ingredients (food grade) it's not a big deal. PG, VG, flavor, nicotine. Mix in the correct ratios for what you want, shaken not stirred. :p

It was a LONG time ago, Yes, it was around $75 or so for the esig, a bunch of cartriges, charger, extra charger, extra battery, etc ...
It was not from a gas station or retail store of any sort since at the time, esigs were pretty much an online only commodity. I had researched, and it was pretty much reviewed as best bang for the buck for nicotine.

But, I say they are not for me mostyl because there is no real comparison with good pipe tobacco or a quality cigar.

Buck: Hey, I stopped smoking cigarettes.
Cindy Russell: Oh, good.
Buck: Isn't that something? I'm on to cigars now. I'm on to a five-year plan. I eliminated cigarettes, then I go to cigars, then I go to pipes, then I go to chewing tobacco, then I'm on to that nicotine gum.

most of the ecig shops in the denver area have stopped mixing on site. I asked the owner of a couple and he said it was due to local health codes and FDA regulations that are in the works.

I've contemplated going from chew to an e-cig. Haven't quite pulled the trigger, but I think it would be a manageable alternative. My problem is I dip all day. I dip pouches so it doesn't get all over the place, and I gut it, so I don't need a spitter. I need to ween myself off of the need ALL day and maybe get down to a few dips, then maybe move on to e-cig. Don't know if I'm mentally ready though.

Honestly most people I know who try to wean themselves onto the ecig fail. You just gotta bite the bullet and start full time ecig and get rid of everything else (cigs, cigars, chewing tobacco, etc) in a day or two you start getting used to the E-cig, after a week or two the ecig becomes normal to you and that's your new habit.

Good luck, next week Wednesday will be my 3rd year of being dip free. I did the cold turkey route but choose to eat anything and everything I wanted for 3 days to beat any cravings. Ice cream, donuts, cookies, just any junk food I wanted. I gained 10 lbs from that but I had also lost 50 lbs prior to that.

I added the e-cig to my daily routine...then slowly reduced the number of "real" cigarettes I smoked. I haven't had a real cigarette in about 16 months...but I still vape heavily.

One of these days, I'll start reducing the nicotine level...I will...I will...
