This sounds horrible. Life without nicotine would be as dull as life without ALcohol or life without caffeine.

There are so many great benefits from nicotine. As you are oblivious to them, here is the wiki entry. You can read about nicotine and it's many powers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine

Hmm, actually, I wasn't expecting it to be so clearly great. I just posted what i did so i could follow up with my story of how effortless it was for me to quit after smoking 30-40 per day. But now i'm interested in getting a vaporizer.

I used 12mg nicotine juice and have cut back the amount I vape when I'm not home. So it has definitely helped me. My lungs can actually take a fresh breathe of air too.

30-40 per day? How many years did you do that?

argh. admittedly not that long. 2.5 years. I'm not convinced it makes a difference after a certain point. Why would 10 years be significantly more difficult?

Apparently, they make e-cigars as well.

Also, can anyone suggest a starter kit? I'd prefer a nicotine free one, as I don't smoke very often and just particularly enjoy the act of smoking more than the taste.
Basically what the OP got, a slightly cheaper setup would be w/o the variable voltage battery. A slightly more expensive setup would have a better atomizer/tank.

I wouldn't suggest a much cheaper setup than that, people I know who went lower bought something like the OP shortly after.

No idea. I was a smoker years and years ago. Smoked about 1.5 packs a day for several years. I quit by playing PC games and not leaving the house. Cold turkey.
Dip? Forget it. Different ball game, at least for me. Everyone is different. Glad you didn't smoke too long as it takes some years for the lungs to clear themselves and heal.

Does it have to be one that looks so silly? I would prefer one as close to a cigarette as possible. I know, I shouldn't be so vain and buy things based on looks, but whatever. =(

a vaper is not a cessation tool - although it works great to that end.

because, some of us (well, everyone who hasn't quit, really) do not want to quit smoking->absorbing nicotine.

but, it allows you to switch from a extremely harmful delivery method of your drug of choice, to a substantially less harmful one.

I haven't seen a single "cigarette" style/size device that anyone used for more than a week. The "pen" style/size is the smallest type that doesn't have major issues (charge time, output, doesn't leak, refillable, replaceable atomizer). Refillable is super important to keep costs down. You replace your atomizers as they fail, you replace the juice when it's out.

There may be newer products that fit the bill without the issues, I just haven't seen them. There are new products released ALL the time since this is an emerging market.

edit: this is what I mean when I say "pen" style.

I just realized there's actual pen looking devices...

Anyways, there are a ton of variations on this design and almost all the parts are compatible. Three basic parts, battery (black piece at the bottom) and the tank and the atomizer (inside the tank, replaceable). I'd recommend the tanks/atomizer where the atomizer is at the bottom (near the battery not the tip). The OP basically has the newer/better version of the pic I linked.

That's why I love my ego cc clearomizer. I replace the atomizer maybe once every couple of months. I clean it by dry burning it until it goes bad then I replace it.

The tank being refillable costs you less money since juice can he bought in various sizes of bottles that will last you longer than the cartos that come with the cig look alike ecigs.

Yeah, I wonder if I would be satisfied with those small cigarette shaped units. Something tells me I wouldn't.

Are the cartridges proprietary? And if so, are the blanks + juice the way to go? How reusable are the blanks?

It is really discomforting that the one I think looks the best (blu rechargeable) gets bad reviews. =(

I meant the pen style. I dislike the look of the larger, goofy crack pipe looking ones.

lol, dude I admit, when I first saw people using these things, I thought they were smoking something else in there. I didn't know what, but I didn't think it was nicotine juice. I was wrong though and now I've joined them.

They can be proprietary depending on the brand of ecigs. I will say the blu cigs are crappy compared to the pen style ecigs that use actual juice.

Check out smokelessimage.com too.

Smokeless image is where I started. But they are overpriced for just about everything and I had a lot of their batteries fail on me after just a couple months.

I've been really happy with the Kanger EVOD batteries, both 650mah and 1000mah versions.

Yup soon after I tried their tiny ones I got the 650mah battery and and their few kanger tanks and didn't have an issue until I decided to switch to the ego cc that lets you change the atomizer.

And so far its worked! Yesterday I just wasn't willing to take one more dip, so I went and bought one of these electron based gizmos. Uncomfortable for the first few hours (because I wanted to dip) but now I'm cool and think I'll make it on the e-cig. Using 24mg watermelon and its smooth and tasty.

The rig:
A lot of guys I work with are using them now and have been thinking of doing it.

The Kanger Evod and Evod II's look pretty good, one guy has one in shipping, might try a set of those out myself soon.

...but if you don't chew it, then how does the good stuff get released into your body?

KT

It gets absorbed through your gums and mouth. It needs to be alkaline to release the nicotine, which is also why snus is good for teeth(but not really gums). It raises the ph in your mouth.

I use snus, and have no desire to use Ecigs, aside from wanting to try it just to see what it's about. I like tobacco as an art form. pg and industrial flavor isn't art.
