You're kidding right? It looks like a carbon copy. Swap the emblems and save $30,000.

It doesn't look anything like it. And even if it did the performance could not be matched to that of the MB.

Congrats. That's a nice looking ride, and I don't really even like SUV's to start. Hope you enjoy it!

I'm a huge fan of the X5. It's still probably the overall best looking SUV on the market, in my opinion.

The GLK looks more masculine I think, and it's just the right size for us. We don't need a lot of towing capacity and a lot of extra space; we just need a little more than we have in our sedan and my two-seater (which has almost no space at all).

Just curious; why did you pick the mercedes over the BMW X5 in this case? You sound like you enjoyed the BMW more

You seriously need to clean your act up here. That post was uncalled for and over the line. You can come back at a later time.

'grats on the new car!

+1 for thinking it looks like the suzuki, though. I was first going to say it looked like a nissan, but then I read further and saw that someone had actually found its japanese doppleganger. :p

MB used to have nice, distinctive styling... lately, though (last 8-10 yrs) everything looks like it was designed in Detroit or Tokyo.

Nice choice skipping the BMW, though. The cars are awesome, but maintaining them once the warranty is over is stupid expensive. :/

The X5 was just too big for us. I can't say I liked it more, especially since the GLK320 is really a competitor to the X3. For me, the GLK320 beats the X3 on a variety of levels. I just wanted something that drove as close to a sedan as possible but that had just enough extra space to make it worthwhile. I think the GLK320 achieves that (and so do many of the other similarly sized vehicles).

I agree. The Mercedes will be a better pick in the long run.

damn I've never seen either before today, I think with some slight modifications one could buy the Suzuki and pass it off as the Benz.

*looks at both pics side by side again*

I know it's not, but I'd say it's the same chassy if I didn't know better.

:Q Yeah, I'd swear they share the same chassis too. I am sure the Benz is still better by a lot though.

Nice looking SUV. I'm not really a fan of Mercedes due to their poor reliability and resale value. I assume your wife no longer has the BMW 535i?

In my research, they don't seem to be poor in terms of reliability.

The wife still has the 535i.

A few years ago, MB had a nightmare time with electronics in their cars. Almost like they ramped up too quickly into all electronic control and failed. Not sure if they have completely overcome this or not.

(Not saying that this model is affected or not, just giving general MB issues from a few years ago).

Nice ride, and it?s far better looking than the X3.

Should have bought an X6, though. ;)

Did you get it much below sticker price? I'm wondering if in this bad economy higher end car makers are dropping their price that much.

My bias is not from personal experience but seeing problems and service costs experienced by relatives and friends. My cousins were big Benz fans and still are to some extent but even they got disgusted with poor reliability and switched to BMW M5 and Lexus LS460 instead of equivalent Benz models. They probably had about 10 different Mercedes the last 15 years. They're down to just S430 now after getting rid of the E500 and the ML. S430 is big money pit.

It's great time to shop for high end toys. This guy picked up brand new '08 Lambo Gallardo Spyder for $160k. Basically $100k off MSRP. Used Ferrari 360 Modena are going for $75-90k. Used 355 are going for $45-60k. My cousin is shopping for 360 Modena and when he finds one, he's going to sell his Viper to me for super cheap. :)

You have a BMW but you opted to skip the X5? :( Traitor. :(

The X3 in its current form... yes, I agree with the GLK choice, but the 2010 X3 is getting a major overhaul. I also think the Q5 is smexy but unsure why you considered the Q7 instead (size). Anyway, grats on the new car. But you can make up for this error in judgment by getting the X5 ///M in October. ;)
