Sorry, no pics yet of the actual vehicle, but it will look exactly like this but a different color. We pick it up this Friday.

The wife needed a car since I've been taking our primary vehicle on lengthier trips. We tested everything else in its competition and some out: BMW X5 and X3, Infiniti FX35 and FX45, Lexus RX350 and GX450 and the Acura RDX and MDX.

I'm a huge fan of BMW. I've never owned an MBZ and previously was never really enthusiastic about them, but I love the style the GLK and so does the wife. The ride quality in this thing was far, far superior to everything else but the BMW X series. The MDX, though it's a great vehicle and we loved it, just rides too much like a minivan.

Cookie for me? Just thought I'd share.

I like the X5 better myself, but this is pretty interesting looking. Never seen one before right now.

That would be drool worthy, imo. I did ask if they had any other models being considered and they said no, but you know how that goes. They could have one coming out tomorrow and they'd still say that.

I'm a huge fan of the X5. It's still probably the overall best looking SUV on the market, in my opinion.

The GLK looks more masculine I think, and it's just the right size for us. We don't need a lot of towing capacity and a lot of extra space; we just need a little more than we have in our sedan and my two-seater (which has almost no space at all).

I agree, but the GLK is more comprable to the X3 which the GLK wins hands down IMO.

Yea, you can assume that the sales staff doesn't know what's coming out until Car and Driver archives that issue.

Where do people get 'MBZ' as short for 'Mercedes Benz'??

Okay, 'Mercedes'...there's the 'M'.
'Benz'....there's the 'B'.

Where's the 'Z' come from?????

/peeve

BTW, sweet little ride!

Nice vehicle. Two of my colleagues have MBZ SUV's...one has a late model ML350 and another has a late model GLK450. The GLK450 is a nice jump up from the 350 in overall quality. While it doesn't drive like a MBZ or BMW sedan, it is a very comfortable ride and has a lot of nice luxury touches that you come to appreciate over time. Overall he is very happy with it...and I think he's had it for nearly 2 years now.

Good choice...hope you guys continue to enjoy it.

This being ATOT, I can't help but add that I would have likely chosen a new X5 diesel or VW Touareg Diesel. My colleague with a ML350 is going to replace it with a X5 diesel and we test drove it a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic engine...fantastic SUV. I've driven a V8 Touareg and loved it as well (I think it has the nicest interior of the bunch). They say the diesel engine in it is even smoother than the BMW (although with a little less torque...that bimmer had a ridiculous amount)...which is hard to believe as you would never guess the BMW was a diesel either.

Edit: My bad...I misread your post and thought you said GL350...not GLK350. Still, nice buy. I haven't read any reviews yet...but I'm sure it is a nice SUV.

Agreed...which I actually like...so doesn't bug me. The Forester is the only reason Subaru is doing so well right now vs. the rest of the industry.

Gotta agree.....even MB themselves abbreviates it MB.....never MBZ.

MB's USA website....you'd think they'd have used MBZ somewhere on their website if it was ever used, but everything is MB-this and MB-that...

Now, a Calif. MB dealer has MBZ.com as its website addy, but that's just a dealer.....

Nice vehicle, btw..........

I looked at the X5 diesel as well. Honestly, for us, it's just too much vehicle even with the improved efficiency of their new diesels.

For me, there's little better/worse between the Mercedes and BMW vehicles. They both have a similar feel, performance, etc. that just isn't present in most other makes.

Nit picky bunch, eh? :)

I don't know why I used MBZ. i could have sworn many years ago they were using MBZ as their main domain, but I could be wrong.

No need to be sorry. I was being slightly sarcastic! :)

It's a beautiful ride and I would take pride and show it here too! :D

(I almost bought a MB E class a few years ago but decided that I wanted the money to sit and grow in the market for retirement. Now that I've lost well over 50% of my money and my job is in the "prevevial shitter", I wish I would have gone ahead and done it. I'll never have the chance again. :( )
