Been looking for a hatchback for a while. Mazda 6 5-door was nice, but too much $$$. VW Golf was nice as well, but quality issues were the kiss of death for that car. Stumbled upon the TC about a month ago and got real excited. Seemed to fit the bill for what I wanted!

Scion dealerships are pretty rare around here, so I had to drive about to hour to get to one. Test drove an auto and a stick, and decided to go stick. The first dealership told me that my order would take a month, but my 92 honda civic with 165K miles started to take a major dump, so I found another dealer who just happened to have the color I wanted...Indigo Ink. :)

Picked it up yesterday. Fantastic car. The motor is great. Pulls great in every gear, and the powerband is very usable. Gas mileage looks to only be so-so at ~28 mixed, but I'm ok with it.

15.9K+500 dest.+TTL =17900. Only option was floor mats for 150.

I LOVE IT! :D Only one in the area so far. A few niggling quality issues including oscillating air vents when the AC is on full blast, but I'll have that fixed when I get 2 small scratches buffed out that I didn't see until I was leaving the lot.

pics!!!

Sweet man!

What do you mean "oscillating air vents"?

Do you mean that they aren't oscillating properly, or that they're like vibrating, or what?

What color?

I test drove one a few weeks back, but I'm kinda holding out on getting a full time job before I go for it~

Loved it when I drove it and was planning on going w/ the Indigo Ink Pearl~ :)

-Ben-

Edit: Kinda weird too since I got a '92 Prelude w/ ~152k on it. Scary :D

oscillating, as in, they are supposed to stay in one place, but rotate (on their own) when the vent is on full blast.

SC is not available AFAIK according to posters at scionlife.com.

Yeah, I wouldn't mod my car before the warranty period is over.

The car looks INCREDIBLE in direct sunlight. Something about the paint that just doesnt come out in the pics I look yesterday. I need to take more. The panoramic sunroof is kickass! (The car has a sliding front sunroof, as well as a seperate moonroof for the rear seat passengers.)

I plan to fold the front seat down, recline the rear seat, and sleep in it sometime in the next week or so just so I can say I did it once. :p

Ahh, interesting.. So like the vibration from being on full blast makes them move?

Hmm.. Strange. Almost sounds like they forgot to put the friction material in there, or tighten it down, or whatever keeps them from moving around freely.

Sounds like a cool feature to me....are you sure they aren't supposed to do that?

Dont plan to do TOO many mods. Nothing much cosmetic, maybe a SMALL spoiler on the rear, but I couldn't see paying $400 for the dealer installed speed bump. Plan to add a rear sway bar, and probably a cold air intake. Will be tinting the windows pretty soon. But other than that I'll keep it pretty stock. If the SC comes in under 2K I'll get it, otherwise....the car has pretty good power without it. In case you can't see in the pictures its a 5 speed stick shift.

Haha..positive. It's not like they sweep from side to side, they move either entirely to the left or to the right, depending on which vent, and stay there. Probably a dampening issue. Not a huge deal as clear tape fixes it for now, but i'll be taking it in soon.

I was picturing them going back and forth, back and forth.
Which would be pretty sweet! :D

In older Mazda 626's the vent fins were powered and "oscillated" back and forth to give you a nice breeze effect. Pretty nifty.
