live on a boat? You sound like a friend of ours who does crazy random stuff to get the most in life... they both quit their NYC jobs and went off to live in New Zealand for a year - worked at a monastery to pay for it. Now they're back to the humdrum daily life grind though. At any rate, best of luck to you guys.

Two months cruising the Puget Sound/San Juans/Inside Passage/SE Alaska with our two kids.

Those kids are going to be bored out of their f-ing minds.
I'm not sure how your own experience applies to anything out there.

whats with everyone hating on this guy? he is probably right...kids don't like shit like that

You obviously haven't seen his posts as of late.

Personally, I'd love to have gone on a boat trip.

Water + being a kid = awesome!

Congrats Bryophyte, and good choice not getting one made out of fiberglass.

You'll have much fun with that boat i'm sure.

Nah, kids don't like that, how many kids do you have?

Water, go forth and see the light my little friend, perhaps you will discover what almost every kid in the entire world has discovered, kids have fun in water!

It's a revelation i know, how could you possibly get out of your mothers basement when the computer is so much fun, but just try, just this one time.

Too big! You can't get into those shallow sloughs with that thing. We've got a two seater 16' Polar Kraft with a 50HP Evinrude E-Tech and front stick steering. Bream killer!

<- loves fishing, since about 5 years old

I dunno, I mean as kids, I'm not sure how many of us had the foresight to know that twenty years later we'd be regretting not taking that boring family trip that mom and dad had planned...

You bought new?

There are a ton of good used boats around the country you could buy for probably half the cost of a new boat.

If no one buys new boats there are no used boats.

Stop posting, pleeeease.

If no one buys new cars there are no used cars.

You're a moron, yeeeees.

Go troll somewhere else.

The only person trolling here is you you idiot. You've contributed absolutely nothing to this thread so STFU. :|

Ha that picture is funny. The guy is wading out ten yard from his boat. He could just be in it and achieving the same casting result.

Congrats!
We have a 19' Bayliner and my nieces and nephews LOVE it! They talk about it all year 'round. We rented a big house on a lake in Tennessee last summer and took the boat down there. We went into the city about once a day, but the kids had far more fun swimming, tubing and riding on the boat!

Yeah it costs some money to keep boats maintained, and yes things will break. But it is so nice to go out to the lake on a Sunday afternoon, throw out the anchor in a secluded cove and lay out on the sun deck and play in the water. I can't wait for summer!

pics? Prices are crazy low right now and you can steal a deal. My friend bought a bank repo boat at an auction for cheaper than what he paid for the motor on his old boat! He's getting it serviced right now so we can go tuna fishing next month.

Pics! They've started sending us some photos as they fabricate the boat:

Living on the boat. Here's another pic so you can get an idea of the size of the boat (welder in picture for scale).
