Judge a metro area (and probably all of New England) based on ignorant, butt-hurt hockey fans taking to Twitter. Yeah, all 4.65 million people of every race and ethnicity in the metro area (and 12.5 million in New England) are responsible for a few tools. How stupid.

My view is (lived in the NE all my life) that Boston, and overall the north east area does have a lot of fun and vibrant things going on. Boston is a very very fun city to be in. However, it is pretty much a given fact among us folk up here that people from Mass, and even more specifically from the Boston area, are assholes.

You don't get coined a "Masshole" for nothing.

Not defending stupid comments made by stupid people, but that gawker article lost all credibility with me when the author asserted that Lynchburg VA was racist because "Lynch" implies the hanging of black people. In fact, Lynchburg got its name from John Lynch, a man who established a ferry to New London VA back in the 1700's. It is amazing what people will say. And what people will believe without question.

I found more assholes in NY than any other city, but what you said is true...FOR ANY CITY/Major TOWN....or even small towns.

Assholes are everywhere....but city assholed def take the cake.

Well this is a country where the mainstream media reports as fact the fiction that the phrase "rule of thumb" comes from English common law regarding wife beating and regularly sees controversy over the use of the word "niggardly" so I'm not surprised that a "journalist" could not be bothered to check his facts.

I've never lived in Boston, but I know a lot of people (work with them, went to school w a few) who are from right around that area. Some are fine.. some are not. Same goes for any group of people like you said. But I've come to notice they are just more arogant, douchey and overall more unpleasant to be near when they are pissed than any large group of people I've been near before. It's just my opinion and observation.

Theres also way more people in NYC than most other cities. Mainly, a lot of gripes I have w Boston people, aren't over life in general. It's generally about sports. ALL my friends are Boston fans, except for a couple. These people think the Bruin's, the Sox and the Pats are god's gift to the human race. It's insane how bitchy and pouty they get if they don't win or you criticize their team. Maybe that's any douche who's a sportfan, but I'm constantly surrounded by it in person, social media etc, so maybe I'm just jaded. Who knows.

#2 there's a big difference between shouting racist insults when you're mad at someone and actually doing racist things and treating people worse because of race. The later is much worse and serious and the the former.
